Spoke to this guy on the phone. Considering to hire him. During our 10 minute conversation, he put me on hold 4 times. Throughout my narrative of events he kept saying, I am confused and I don't follow you. Yes, it would be difficult to follow my story when you are carrying on 2 or 3 different conversations at the same time with others. Obviously, I wouldn't hire this guy.

Sometimes a small thing illustrates a larger characteristic. I recently had a successful outcome to a matter thanks to my excellent lawyer, Daniel Dominitz, of this firm. A small amount of money (more than $1K, awarded by the court), ended up at the Fine firm. I asked them to send it to me. They said no. We don't send $ that way, not even by registered letter. Fair enough, please e-transfer it to me. Sure, Lorne said, as long as you pay about $50, which is what he said the bank charged him. Or come pick it up at his office. I'm a self-employed senior citizen, I told them, and my Google search indicated a business e-transfer costs $1.50 (a point he never replied to). Nope. Either pay or drive here from a distance in the city's southend, where I live. So for somewhere between $1.50 and $50 (I really doubt it costs this), he squandered all the goodwill his younger colleague had amassed. What kind of businessperson does that? One for whom $ means everything?

He has very poor knowledge of family laws and just want to make his fees of $ 500 per hour while he is not deserve for even paralegal fee. He is big scam of making money in the name of law practices. He charged me for case conference which never took place and he refused and never pay back the fee he charged me in advance for case conference. For second time he never filed case conference confirmation form and simply made me to pay for lawyers. Be aware of his technic of charging you for un-necessary emails he sends to respondent without your consent and then he keeps on charging you. His trick to make maximum money from you before your case get settled (if you are lucky) Never choose him look for more better lawyers. He charged me about $ 40,000 before even 1st case conference take place while my case was very simple. He intervene order of justice just to charge me for un-authorized emails. His accounting is very poor charging twice be careful if you hire him. He is a scam.

Once again a well deserved thank you goes out to Lorne Fine, Ravital Khardas and the entire team including, Angelika Sarkisyan. My daughter's mother and her counsel sought absurd demands and costs by illicitly arguing for further child support and attempting to mask her history of abuse, alienation and estrangement while further refusing requests for educational and attendance abstracts. On very short notice Lorne expertly filed relevant materials and before a Madame Justice in Superior Court, Ravital being very well prepared was successful for an Order that terminated support, returned over payments totaling 48 months(despite the presence of a prejudicial FRO counsel requested by opposing counsel) and also left my ex pay for her own counsel's substantial legal fees in the amount of approx. $25,000. dollars for their calamity.

Saw two other lawyers about a situation where my ex wife refused to negotiate anything..all I did was spend money on lawyers and nothing was resolved. We were gonna go to trial. A friend recommended Lorne Fine. I read these reviews and thought forget about it but my friend insisted I speak with Lorne. She was right. Lorne was terrific. He was able to negotiate and save me the expense of a trial. Can honestly say he is very knowledgeable and a highly skilled negotiator. I am happy and grateful.

I have retained Lorne over the years since 1997. Dollar wise Lorne has been excellent value, taking ownership, and accountability in his work. He is straightforward in his approach in applying family law and from personal experience well respected by judges which is a huge plus before even entering a courtroom. If an ex is blameworthy, Lorne will find those points and defend you like a grizzly to her cubs. I believe to have had a most difficult case involving access, support and property division to all of which I was successful in Superior Court, initiated by Lorne's approach and guidance. In my matter I was able to defend my ex's motion seeking $100k as well as having her pay me rental income over the years she refused to sell the family home. If you are willing to do some legwork on your own, Lorne can carefully guide you through the steps as well as assign his highly competent assistants to your case. Have always recommended Lorne Fine and his associates and contine to do so!

I'm surprised that Mr. Fine has any negative reviews because I found him sympathetic, attentive and really well versed in the law. Unlike other lawyers that I've had in the past, Mr. Fine's goal was to not waste time and money and pushed for a fair settlement for me which is exactly what I got. He is assertive for sure, but assertive in a positive way which makes you feel like you've got a champion on your side. I really recommend him highly.

I was recommended by a friend to use Mr. Fine as my attorney. I found him to treat me well and with resoect. His fees are not the lowest but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. He had several good ideas that my previous lawyer did not even think of I. The end I was very happy with the results in what might have proved a more difficult situation. I will tell others who need a good family attorney to use Mr. Lorne Fine's services.

The only people who could write a positive word to say about Lorne Fine's reputation or handling of separation /divorce is either a criminal/family member/in need of medical treatment or Lorne Fine himself!Lorne Fine should be disbarred from practising law/mediation. He is an educated criminal. My ex wife and I went to Fine to avoid the costly route of lawyers to mediate our separation After 15K in fee's(5K over billed) he prepared a one way agreement leaving the most basic joint family assets (wife's jewelry appraised over 70K) out of the agreement. That is JUST ONE issue in a litany of omissions by him. I was left to retain a family lawyer for additional $40K. My family lawyer was shocked and stunned with Fine's one way agreement. It was obvious he did not write the agreement in good faith. Needless to say I will be taking him to the law society.I strongly suggest others to the same do the same if you are wronged by him! He is an arrogant bully and you need to push back!

Lorne Fine is an excellent family law lawyer. He is very knowledgeable. He answers all of your inquiries and keeps you informed. He obtained great results for me at a very reasonable cost. His legal assistants and his associates are very helpful. They are a great team. They made the process painless. Like the other comments here, Lorne seemed to go around in the inner circles of his office and communicating with staff on cases rather than the actual client. I spent $16,000 for a marriage divorce certificate and that's all I got when other precipitating factors required more urgency. Also charged almost by the clock second hand and not by the minute. This case did not include any court time and seemed ridiculous cost wise for the service. Had to abandon my legal avenue due to excessive and now I am trapped in the judicial system with no way out.

I was going thru a very difficult separation and didn't know where to turn. A friend recommended their lawyer, Lorne Fine. It was the best decision I ever made. He was a straight talker, honest, professional,knows his stuff, understood my situation and is a brilliant idea person. Lorne Fine will work very hard on separating you from as much of your money as possible. He will talk to you at great length about small details, bill you in large chunks of hours for file review, and you will soon wonder what value he really brings as he has very low attention to detail, is disorganized and needs to ask you the same question multiple times, will charge you for consulting with his internal team. But watch him work very hard at collectting money from you. He will interview you with Stephanie, his associate, and you will soon realize that you hired Lorne Fine to work with Stephanie. Stephanie is detailed, conscientious and logical. Then you realize that you are spending Lorne's hourly rate and Stephanies's hourly rate to get one hour of legal advice. Lorne will be tenacious at collecting your money to pay his bill, that's when you will see him work really hard and wonder what you got yourself into by hiring Lorne Fine.
