Recently, John acted for my brother in connection with preparation of a private mortgage and I was very pleased to hear that my brother was completely satisfied with John's services. For real estate matters, I suggest John to all of my litigation clients!

John gets his administration to do the talking for him. Betty his admin quotes you a price saying no problem we can do for a couple hundred. As time goes by Betty keeps adding to the initial quote. Betty says I need to pay property transfer tax and I’m like no, you doing something wrong. So she says she will get John to call me back. I wanted answer as to why and John instead refused to come on phone to explain why. Instead he sends email saying we will not be proceeding with your case. Very unprofessional and waste of my time. So many other Solicitor out there, best to avoid John completely.

Deal with this character at your own peril! If you are looking for integrity, professionalism, competence or any virtue one would rightfully expect from this profession, then keep looking as Carlisle is devoid of these traits, in my humble opinion. Caveat emptor, buyer beyare... Do your homework! Glaring question i pose... The legitamacy of the 5 star rating! Himself under alias? And/or friends?? hummmm. I dont have enough space for all the details but among other grievances, he broke the law in lying to the title office and his professional body ( whom are supposed to protect the public... Yeah right! ... Saddly they get a failing grade also) ... He is also ignorant off the basic elements of the Power of Attorney legislation.... I can PROVE all of this and so much more but i am limited on space. Again, do your homework. This is only my opinion.

As new landlords, John has helped us with some unusual landlord-tenant problems at a property in Vancouver. Unlike an earlier attorney we had worked with, John came up with simple solutions that worked and were fair, both to us and our tenants. He responds quickly to our calls? and emails?, and does not over bill for his time?. I highly recommend John and his firm.

If you're worried about wasting money on a lawyer, then don't go with John. My doesn't know how to explain the details of your case to you, he rushes you to sign papers before reading them (time is money to him), and his rate is actually higher than other lawyers after some surprising added fees (which you can't dispute because he's the lawyer and you can't dispute the unfairness with an impatient guy). Do your research.

I rate Mr. John a 10. He is a professional of the highest caliber and I felt completely at ease in his professional demeanor, and facility with the law.
He was forthright with his summation of my legal problem, and what my options were.
I cannot speak more highly of this experience and am truly grateful.
Thank you so much, Mr.John for all your help.

Use at your own risk. devoid of integrity and competence. Be entirely suspect of the 'favorable' feedback he has received, ironically on the heels of ONLY negative ones. HUMMMM, I wonder? Paid for or friends? He is an embarrassment to the profession. My opinion of course but one I can support factually. Buyer beware. Do your homework.

I have known Mr. John for many years, and though I never had a need to use his services, I can assure everyone of two things: 1- he has a very pragmatic approach to situations and go by what is factual and verifiable, which in is profession are the most relevant pieces of any case he choose to take, and 2- he is very meticulous and doesn't deal with the "maybes," the "perhaps" and the "what ifs" people tend to bring to him - I believe that's why people who come for a consultation must be prepared to deal with their own case from a new angle, even to the point of having their own expectation shattered because what maybe common sense to them may not be, under the law.

John is very experienced, he will tell you in minutes what you need to know, not hear. He is professional, knowledgeable, assertive and delivers results. Save yourself time and money by calling him first. His office is easy to find, his staff is efficient and results are fast.

I decided to write a review of Mr. John after he represented me for the second time. John was a professional and understanding advocate on both occasions. He took what was a very stressful situation for me and expertly handled everything to my total satisfaction.
I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is in need of competent, professional representation...

This guy is not worth the time OR money. Plenty of other lawyers out there who are willing to give it their all. This guy is just a ripoff and he doesn't even produce good work. His conveyancer is even worse. She barely speaks English and expects to be able to speak to clients and inquiries? Please. Spare yourself the time and effort and spend a minuscule amount more and find yourself another lawyer. Any lawyer is better than him!

I really don't understand why he getting such negative reviews. I recently purchased a home, and used John as my lawyer, and clearly, it needs to be stated, I was very happy with how to transaction went through. John, or his assistants, were always able to help me with any of my questions, and I had a lot of them. Everything was explained to me if I didn't understand what was happening, my documents were ready to be signed THREE DAYS before my completion date, so I knew everything would complete on time, and Four days later, I had the keys to my new home. He is knowledgeable about what he is doing, and he never gives me the wrong idea, or gives me any answers that he is unsure about. Again, I reiterate, I don't understand why the other reviews are as they are, John is great to work with, and his office staff can communicate in 5 different languages, so someone is always there to explain what is happening, all you need to do is ask!

I would never hire this guy! a personal opinion of course. it appears others on this forum concur. caveat emptor....do your homework. it is not appropriate for me, at this time to get into the details but suffice it to say that I have concerns that will be passed on to the law society for questionable conduct.

I can never reach this guy! He uses his work phone as a personal cell phone but he forwards his phone to a phone that's off so when you need him, he's never around. I am sick and tired of having to chase him around town just to get a simple update on my file. And even then, he never knows what's going on. He relies heavily on his assistants and friends but doesn't seem to have a clue on what's going on. He bills out on work that was not even done, makes phony allocations to time, then tries to "out talk" me even when he knows I'm right. I have never seen a lawyer so unprofessional. From the time I sat there waiting for him, I could already tell anyone about the details of a case he has because he has no sense of confidentiality. This guy is a joke to the law society. He should be disbarred!

I bought and sold a property with a Realtor that I thought was really good! Until he recommended this lawyer and everything went south. I do not understand why he is allowed to practice law at all! I did both my buying and selling transaction through him and what a mistakes that was. Here are a few reasons why.
1. He is very unorganized, don't be surprised if he forgets that you have a case closing or that he is representing you!
2. Make tons of blank promises! like the other comment wrote, he is a big talker. He will say yes to everything at first and then at the end tells you no
3.He has NO knowledge of law! He sounds like he does, but the info he gives is crap! All the things he told me totally mislead me and cost me quite a bit to fix with the help of another lawyer!
4.He will not admit to any mistakes or fault even with proof! You can't reason with the guy and he makes it sound like he never said such thing and that it's your own fault!
Much more to say, words allowed limite

Don't ever use this guy. He's a braggart and big talker who can't deliver and bungles up little simple things. Had a simple purchase conveyancing done with him and he screwed up all the important details in the documents. Names, addresses, date of birth, even nationality. He doesn't even know the law! Doesn't know how to calculate the PTT and can't explain about the first time home buyers tax exemption. Avoid this guy at all cost. Reader beware.

John is inept as a lawyer, and lacking as a human being. He lacks even basic knowledge of law. He takes your money to send letters, file documents, etc., then tries to say you aren't his cliet. Last time I looked up client in the dictionary, it read "The party for which professional services are rendered, as by an attorney".It is a complete waste of time and money to pay this man for any legal services. You can do a better job on your own with free resources available. He is a complete moron, with very few redeeming qualities, and an even more inept articled law student, Jason Ibañez. Search out any lawyer you may hire at The Law Society of BC website, before you commit to their services. http://www.lawsociety.bc.ca/ Be sure to look this guy up under the Lawyer Conduct and Complaints section of this website, and search for legal actions against him on the Supreme Court website. More to follow soon...

After having a very long period with no communication from his side, John finally called me back. He not only did not (could not?) answer the questions on my file he forgot he even had me as a client. What a waste of my time. I found someone else to take my case and managed to get things ready in time. I would much rather pay double for a lawyer that at least has a grip on the work than a lawyer who doesn't know what he is doing.

John has no working knowledge of procedures or what is going on around him. He is a very fast paced man and tends to not use his brain to think before saying anything. The commercial lease I have signed with him proved to me that he is completely incompetent and constantly replies on his assistants and book keeper to move things along. He is extremely forgetful so be prepared to re-explain everything to him! Upon the horrible situation of having to come to his office late at night to sign papers because he couldn't get them ready during the day, I'll say that he is completely disorganized and I will never use his services again.
