Great lawyer - great experience! I hired Holger Siegwart for the Beibehaltungsgenehmigung to retain my German citizenship and he did an amazing job. He is obviously very knowledgeable and experienced in this field. The papers Mr. Siegwart prepared for me were very detailed and thorough and my application was approved! Siegwart was easy to work with, he explained the entire process to me in a way that made sense to me and he was available for follow ups when I felt insecure dealing with the German government. Now I am a dual citizen and I'm glad I hired Mr. Siegwart. I can only recommend this attorney, thank you team Siegwart!

I cannot recommend working with Mr. Siegwart. Initially, our communication was smooth and quick. Only exception was a letter he or his staff wrote on my behalf that was riddled with typos and grammar issues and which I corrected myself.
Later on, his services declined drastically in quality. Never responded to phone calls. Rarely responded to emails, and only excruciatingly slowly if ever. Often had to be reminded. This despite having hired him to work on an urgent matter. He and his staff let an important letter addressed to me lie around their office for a month. I only found out about it after repeatedly asking about incoming correspondence.
He blamed Corona and the restrictions, but I don't see why he couldn't respond to emails, or at least let people know in advance that response times would be slower. I was left guessing at all times.
I eventually had to fire him and hire another attorney. Siegwart was nice enough to refund half his fee.

Mr. Siegwart was very quick in his initial response and advised me well with my international legal problem. On top of it he is just a very nice person.

Mr. Siegwart handled an inheritance matter for my family. His expertise in dealing with the German courts, knowledge of the process, responsiveness and ability to guide us in a cost efficient manner was excellent. He was patient, easy to communicate with, and explained each step of the process. I highly recommend Mr. Siegwart. It was a pleasure working with him.

I contacted Mr Siegwart recently because my mother had received inheritance paperwork from Germany and we did not really understand the German inheritance system or the papers. I e-mailed Mr. Siegwart asking what his fee would be to check over the papers and to advise me as to whether or not a lawyer would be needed. He got back to me quickly and arranged for a FREE consultation.
He took the time to listen carefully to all the details of the situation and allowed me to ask many questions. He gave me complete answers and explanations as well as some suggestions. There was not pressure to hire him and, in fact, after my discussion with Mr Siegwart, we decided we would handle the matter on our own.
Do not be afraid to contact Mr Siegwart for a free consultation He speaks excellent English, is very friendly, easy to talk to, and helpful. If I at some point need a lawyer, I would hire him without any hesitation and would feel I were in trustworthy and professional hands

Beibehaltungsgenehmigung. That's the word that kept popping into my head. Should I have applied for one of those a long time ago? Is it too late? That nagging feeling kept coming up. I scheduled an introductory phone call with Herrn Siegwart for a week out and eagerly anticipated resolution. Mr Siegwart patiently listened to my immigration history and the questions I had. He answered my questions. All of them. On the spot. And yes, he did stop my worries. He is one of those rare lawyers who want to fully understand and truly have their (prospective) clients interests at heart. I think I would have enjoyed working with him on my "case" - it's just that there was no case and I could just file my papers to resolve the situation. Thank you! While it was a short conversation and since he did indeed solve my issue I was surprised when he refused to invoice me for his time.

I recently worked with Holger on an inheritance case involving the sale of real estate property in Germany. He provided advice on how to read a German property sale contract and how to deal with the German notary public handling the sale. He also provided numerous invaluable tips for dealing with an inheritance in Germany. He was extremely responsive and helpful and provided excellent service. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and recommend him most highly.

Excellent German-American lawyer! I inherited property in Germany and was overwhelmed with the probate process in a foreign country. Mr. Siegwart is very knowledgeable and professional, he quickly responded my emails and phone calls, even after the matter was closed.
