Due to the extremely poor way in which Mr. Heater handled my Family Law case, I reported him to the Office Chief Disciplinary Counsel (OCDC) for the state of Missouri. Following an investigation, the OCDC issued a Letter of Admonishment to Mr. Heater for his violation of Rule 4-1.3 (Diligence) and Rule 4-1.4 (Communication) of the State of Missouri Judiciary Rules of Professional Conduct. This letter of Admonition is a public record and is on file with the OCDC in Jefferson City, MO.
In plain English, Mr. Heater was reprimanded for failing to communicate with me properly, and in a timely manner, and by not representing me with the care and professionalism expected by both the State of Missouri Judiciary or the Missouri Bar Association.

My husband hired Jeff for his custody case. I'll try to make this short as the first review I wrote was lengthy and I took it down when he asked me to and I thought there was a chance he could fix his mistakes. Right off, his communication and lack of effort was noticed. He always had excuses why he didn't get something done or didn't call back. Eventually my husband got the custody he wanted and all that was left was modifying support. Neither party could agree and Jeff's communication and effort continued to get worse with more excuses. We would go weeks without hearing from him. My husband told him since they couldn't decide on the support, to set it up for trial. Jeff agreed and then we went over 2 months and didn't hear from him. Then my husband was informed by his ex that the case was switched to a new judge and since he saw NOTHING had been done by Jeff, he closed the case. My husband lost the new custody arrangement he had. In a nutshell, it was a complete WASTE of time.

Would not ever hire!!! Save your money does not return phone calls does not file right paperwork!!! Switches office locations and doesn't let the client know! Basically took my money and did nothing!!! I could of done the same job with no law degree! If that says anything!!!! Gave me less than 24 hours notice about a court date!!! There are so many issues with his work it would take me pages to write!!! Took him four months to file sore work only to file the wrong paperwork he had me confused with another client!!! He had his secretary lie about paperwork being filed! And some how all my reviews get deleted!!! If you hire him it's just like flushing money down the toilet! Only that may be more exciting!

Communication is horrible. He has prolonged this case by continuing court dates for several years. He took my money and has racked up a larger bill while doing nothing for me. He does not keep his word to show up to appointments and also has tried to withdrawal from me because he moved to a "larger firm" with 200 new clients.
