He is absolutely terrible.. he will milk you for money if he thinks you have it. He is never prepared and always postpones court dates because he is 'not ready'. He will push court dates a week or two and on the new day, he will come with an excuse like 'I haven't had the chance to look at the disclosure'. He does not understand that this time is very crucial for his clients. He always tries to assure people by saying he has great connections with the judge, the crown, and blah blah. I wouldn't suggest anyone to go with this lawyer. He will make you pay out of pocket and also tell you to apply for legal aid. Such a scammer, do yourself a favour and don't choose Barry plant

When I signed the retainer, Mr. Plant assured me my charges will be withdrawn and we agreed on a fix amount to achieve this result. Throughout the court process (approx. 8-9 months), I made my bi-weekly payments and the total amount was paid before the trial date. On the date of my trial, Mr. Plant showed up late and presented me with two options: take a plea deal or pay more to have him continue representing me through the trial. I had a copy of the original retainer which I pulled out to show him what we agreed to, but to no avail; resulting in me accepting the plea bargain to avoid putting myself further in debt than I already was after paying him thousands of dollars… The system gets you..first the police, than the lawyers. Dont forget the courts fees, the judges, duty counsel and etc...guess who is paying for all of that? YOU are- The Tax payer. Stay out of the system :)

I completely concur with the comment posted on Oct 27, 2012. Mr. Barry Plant did not even have a discussion with his client before his hearing. He only spoke to his family members that we taking care of his fee. He went ahead and had discussion with the Crown (again as he claims to be his good friend) without consulting with the family because they had to go to the bank to get his fee. His fee was outrageous and he was completely unprofessional and juvenile with family members when they demanded that he talk to his client. Do not use this person I am sure there are much better options.

Barry will tell you that he likes to win, that he has your back and that he will give you his 110%. Mr. Plant is very expensive. His retainer and subsequent payments appear to be his highest priority. He uses his personal friendships in the courts to barter a deal with the Crown. He does not go the extra step to point out evidence of wrongdoing or equivalent crime on the part of the victim, which might mitigate your charges. In my case, the evidence that the so called victim was not innocent himself was contained right in the disclosure. Barry appeared too unconcerned to point it out to the Crown, who is a woman and his "friend". Mr. Plant merely pads the blow that the Crown Attorney would like to deal you. He does not defend with an eye to have your charges withdrawn. He is as big a lawyer as he is a man. He is not worth his fee.
