Stay away, this is a horrible lawyer I agree he should be disbarred immediately!! He caused my case to run an additional 12+ months, giving the opposing party an advantage and weakened my position. Paul Cooper neglected and ignored my case. He cancelled critical meetings and withheld information from me that required my input. I’d give him a zero if I could.

Terrible human being , unethical, inhumane, unprofessional, immoral, unreachable, does not respond to any emails or telephone calls but will bill you for every attempt you make to contact him. This sub human specimen has destroyed my life. I have not seen or spoken to my minor child since 2019 because this man decided I don’t deserve to be a mother because of my mental health diagnosis. HE DID NOTHING TO HELP ME STAY IN MY SONS LIFE. My son and I are now estranged and he is not safe. No legal custody arrangement. This lawyer let my abusive ex take the child. I have been childs primary caregiver since birth. My diagnosis has never effected my ability to parent. This lawyers prejudice and he told me that I don’t look like I have a diagnosis and he believed that I was able to hold a job but I am too sick to parent. THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN SHOULD BE PERMANENTLY DISBARRED. He put my life in danger and my son’s life in danger

Do not hire this lawyer. Especially if you are using a legal aid certificate. You will be billed for chasing him to return your emails or phone messages. This will continue to happen until your certificate is maxed out. Then he will drop you as a client. Mr Cooper knew nothing about my file. I had to repeat the details of domestic violence case often. This was extremely upsetting to have to relive the trauma every time I called or emailed him. Mr.Cooper was unethical. He put my minor child’s safety in jeopardy as well as my safety. He does not specialize in domestic violence cases. He is biased against disabled people especially if you are disabled and have mental health issues. His staff screen his calls. He is not accessible. He just does not care about his clients. Especially women who have suffered from domestic abuse. Please do not hire him if your a woman seeking a separation or divorce. He will not advocate for you to see your children. He is a terrible human being.

When I signed the retainer cheque Paul Cooper said he would write a letter by that day or the latest on Monday. Those days passed. No letter. I wrote several emails. No response. Several days later I get an email saying we will touch base tomorrow. A week later? That is one week later without a letter. This was a child access case. He said we needed to act quickly. I have hired several lawyers in the past - at several price points. Each one sent a letter confirming to the other party that I now have legal representation. Not Paul Cooper. Nothing. Nada Zilch. I terminated him quickly because his lack of communication and failure to produce a simple two sentence letter screamed that something wasn't right. It sent the red flags waving. I recommend you look elsewhere. There are lawyers who will work with you and support you.

I been scammed he drain the money never show up in court try to work my case with my ex lawyer never answer the phone when you need him .I won the case without him took a vacation without telLing me I'm sure all the good rating are writen by him or his secretary please guys read his rating b4 jumping in the hole...money matter to him but never your case scammer .

Paul is fantastic. The comments about returning calls must be from people who have never heard of email, he's in court all the time so he returns emails immediately and if you email him about something urgent he'll call you right away. Paul is tough when being tough is necessary, but is always mindful of the children involved and was never afraid to be honest with me. Results were exactly as he predicated, he's the only honest lawyer I've met, I don't think I could have survived my family court adventure without him. Highly recommend!!

Gave me advice that got me in trouble with the court (mobility), didn't properly communicate with opposing counsel (used wrong email address for my ex's lawyer) so important information was not passed over as it should have been. Granted, I was paying him a 'discounted' rate as I am a stay-at-home mom, but that shouldn't mean discounted effort. He seems more interested in making deals and maintaining his win percentages than following and managing client expectations. You get what you pay for, and heck, just look at his office: a disorganized basement with confidential files with names and details laying EVERYWHERE. Buyer beware on this one. Since getting new counsel, I have won every motion I have brought before the court. He was either more familiar with American law (check his credentials), or just not good at dealing with women's cases.

Absolutely one of the best family lawyers in Toronto. I hired Paul to represent me after my wife left me and wasn't allowing me to see our two children. Within weeks, Paul had turned my whole case around and I now share custody of my kids with my ex. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him.

I am really quite shocked by some of the negative things I am reading about Paul. He was my lawyer recently for an extremely long divorce case and he was always available by email or phone and would always return messages within a few hours, sometimes sooner. He was extremely supportive during the most difficult time period of my life. His communication with me was always thorough - he laid out my options and best and worst case scenarios. I would absolutely recommend Paul to anyone going through a divorce, especially one involving custody issues!

I echo the sentiments of a parent whose custody case went sour after hiring this man. My personal experience is that he is terrible with phone calls, leave everything for the last minute then blames the client for anything that goes wrong. Personally I think he has a biased towards fathers and I believe there are certain lawyers he makes side deals with. In family law he is not transparent, you are always guessing what he is doing on your behalf but quite the charmer and never takes responsibility for his actions instead he turns it all on you. He cost me a lot. In court he double and triple books himself so that he is working for multiple clients, never focusing completely on my concerns. Glad I finally got another lawyer

This man took on my family matter, since than my ex is getting his way with me. Mr. Cooper is never available and I'm sick and tired of his put of office reply. He pretty much drained my legal aid certificate. I will be letting him go soon avoid him at all costs. One very disappointed mother.
