Lauren is/was a student-at-law when she completed work on my behalf. I was very disappointed with her lack of skills, knowledge, common sense and felt that this law firm should not have given her reign to act on my behalf. She very much lacked the skills for legal research and was too eager to give an unsupported opinion. I did my own legal research (reading the relevant legislation and case law and studied the jurisprudence) then pointed her in the right direction. I think she probably learned more from me as the client than what I had learned from her! I was not charged for this service as they called it pro-bono; however, I never asked for pro-bono and in fact sent an email to the firm to ask about service fees before they called it quits: They dumped me as a client under the auspices that 'they serve mainly large corporations'. Not a professional person and not a professional firm since her work was done under their watch.
