Peter Liston is hands down the BEST lawyer my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Peter helped my aging immigrant father with Estate documents that he needed notarized, and he was so pleasant, patient and wonderful that my husband and I knew we had found ourselves a lawyer to help us create our Wills. We happily drove from Toronto to Ottawa just to work with Peter and we could not say more about our experience. He is AMAZING – Peter is everything you could wish for in a lawyer. He’s a great listener, an excellent communicator, and he has a sincere kindness about him. He is extremely knowledgeable, very meticulous and detail-oriented, and he goes out of his way to understand his clients and help them in every way possible. I was helping a friend find a lawyer to draw up his will/power of attorney, as he was at the hospital waiting for an open heart surgery. I contacted Peter to see if he could help. He give me a great first impression! He was easy to talk to while being still professional, took the time to answer all questions and he was down to heart (unlike many others) He truly seem like a great lawyer therefore, I told my friend I found him a lawyer. Peter actually went to the hospital to meet my friend and draw up his papers. I don't know too many lawyers that would do that for a new client. My friend was very happy with Peter's services. I kept his contact information as I knew I also wanted to do my papers soon. I have to say I am even more impress now that I have personally used his services. He is friendly and kindhearted. Before honing in on Peter, I spent several days reviewing lawyers' ratings online. He's one of a few with so many positive reviews & I can see why he has such a high rating. My free consultation went exceptionally well. I was so impressed with his ability to succinctly capture the essence of my mold issue that I inherited when buying my new condo. Peter Liston is not a family law lawyer, so I have no idea why he shows up in that category. I am a family law lawyer of 30 years and his name has never surfaced on a file nor in our community of family law lawyers? His ratings are suspicious, but I can't comment on his ratings in other areas of law.

When reading other people’s reviews about Mr. Liston, we thought those reviews were too good to be true. But we needed a lawyer urgently for a dispute with our neighbor, so we decided to give it try. We were so glad we had Mr. Liston. Just like other reviewers said, he is intelligent, knowledgeable, thoughtful, kind, honest, very professional, responsible... What we want to add there is that his background as a scientist actually made him an outstanding lawyer. He provided legal advice with the same focused analysis he applied in the science, very detailed and precise. His approach in our case was to resolve disputes than to fight legal battles. Mr Liston, or Peter as he insists on being addressed, is a jewel in the Ottawa legal community. He is intelligent, knowledgeable, thoughtful, kind, and honest.
He recently guided me through a contentious matter during which he provided excellent advice. Without fail, his approach defused the numerous disagreements. He is genuinely more interested in resolving disputes, than fighting legal battles. However when the situation warrants, he is firm and direct, providing pragmatic serious legal opinions.
He explains legal procedures and requirements in plain English, avoiding the use of confusing legal jargon.

We hired Peter Liston, PhD on 4 separate occasions. The first related to an estate issue which was complicated and required a lawyer familiar with not only the legal issues, but the details had to be communicated in a way that all parties came away feeling that their interests had been satisfied. The second occasion was to update our wills and create a trust vehicle for a rental building and cottage we own. The third occasion related to a commercial issue that required a creative, strategic, and informed approach that, ultimately, convinced the other side that their case had no merit. And the most recent occasion to enlist Mr. Liston's expertise had to do with preparing our lease agreements for our rental building.
