I was in the family court system for years, I had 2 different lawyers and kept going further in debt with nowhere to turn.My case was very complex. I had my first meeting with shilpa to go over the case at that time. I was just looking to get out of support payments and get the money that i overpaid back.
She became invested and wanted to fix everything. I was not going to hold my breath because I had heard that before and always costed me more money that I didn't have.
She worked on my case efficiently, and within my budget, she told me the way that it was with no sugar on top even if I didn't want hear that, Shilpa tried dealing with opposing counsel over the phone. So we wouldn't have to go to court and that didn't work. So off to court we go.
Day of court, I'm thinking that it's going to be the same old thing, but it wasn't, I got to see Shilpa in action. What a firecracker. Shilpa had a settlement within 30 minutes. I couldn't believe it before we left the courts that day.

Terrible lawyer who doesn't listen to clients. Told her my ex and I are on good terms and I just wanted to settle. She became obsessed with everything I could "get" from my ex. I knew that but didn't want it, as I told her. Peace is more important to me, my ex, and our children. Divorce doesn't always have to be nasty. Seems all Shilpa cares about is encouraging fighting between former couples, most likely to increase payment to her. Shameful. She also asks all people to whom she provides a free consultation to review her on this site, whether they actually retain her or not. Credible lawyers would not immediately ask for "reviews" for services they have not been given the opportunity to provide.

To those reading reviews and trying to decide which lawyer to retain. Let me say that Shilpa is someone you should consider. I had her for my divorce settlement. She was very attentive, upfront, and transparent. She puts herself in her client's shoes and follows their wishes. Divorce is already a stressful time and Shilpa didn't add to any of that difficulty. Instead, she guides you through the process and caters to your wants and needs. She counsels what you are entitled to and is respectful of your decisions. Shilpa Mehta and her team go beyond what is expected and always over delivered! By this I mean she was able to not only get me a great terms in my separation agreement that secured my, and my children’s financial future, but she was able to get me to stay in my house although my ex was continuing to have an affair and demanded that I leave my own house. Shilpa explained to me all my rights, and I can assure men, if you are reading this, she knows how men can be unfavourably positioned in separation and divorces. Accordingly, my separation agreement has stellar clauses that even enable me to collect Spousal (and I’m a man). Shilpa also caught the sloppy work initially done by the mediators in drafting the first separation agreement. Shilpa redid the whole thing over and found loopholes all over opposing council’s demands. She has been beyond professional and with a hilarious sense of humour. My case was detailed, required skill to navigate, with many twists and turns. Shilpa listened to all the facts, deliberated, and acted firmly, swiftly and decisively. Every meeting or dialogue was efficient and important. Our face to face negotiations with opposing counsel were also impressive. She handled all with great aplomb, deftly, and accurately protecting my interests and seeking solutions. My former spouse has made my life a living nightmare for 7+ months and has been threatening me with court if I do not comply to a list of unreasonable demands. When I told my ex that I had retained Shilpa, his first response was that I had a junior lawyer and he mockingly wished me good luck. I was so concerned because my husband had a downtown lawyer. I called Shilpa and told her my concerns. Shilpa did admit that she had only been practicing for 5 yrs but also said that the law does not change just because someone has a senior lawyer. Shilpa wrote me a letter about a month or so after I hired her in which she summarized her opinion of the issues in my matter. My ex was hard headed and would not settle. We ended up going to court and the outcome was almost identical to what Shilpa said it would be. Shilpa Mehta is an amazing lawyer. I was scared and didn't know where to start looking for a lawyer, Shilpa was recommended to me by a friend. I have been separated for 6 years and divorced for 2 of those years. There has been constant struggles with my ex-husband. As a result, I've need the services of a lawyer. If you need to find a lawyer Shilpa Mehta is by far the best lawyer I've had I have been in the family court system for the last five years It was a very difficult process and I didn't think it would ever end the amount of money and just the emotional effects on me was overwhelming A year ago I started looking for the new lawyer with not a lot of hope on getting my case settled I interviewed three other lawyers before I met with Shilpa I stopped the interviews with her In the interview she was confident and knew what she was talking about I went in just wanting my child and spousal support payments fixed She wanted to have everything settled I was skeptical but she did what she said she was going to When we went to court for a settlement conference she was well prepared and knew my difficult case inside and out I know now if I had Shilpa Mehta when I first start Court proceedings it would have been settled 5 years ago I would recommend her to closest friends
