John is one of the better lawyers I’ve encountered. He is not fluffy and probably not good for anybody who has experienced Domestic Violence but he knows how to take action and make changes for his clients. His billing is clear and fair. In mediation He will encourage you to compromise and so make sure that you are not the only one compromising. In court he had false allegations removed in 30 days. I would say overall he’s pretty solid and knows what resources to use in family law to get answers.

It is my personal opinion that this lawyer is legally responsible for the death of an elderly black woman. John used a veritable plethora of lies which enabled his vicious client to perpetuate abuse which has now led to the death of this black woman after more than five years of abuse which was also at the hands of the Ottawa Police. I wrote this because black lives matter.

I used John Summers as my Lawyer in two separate custody battles for my children. He was a God sent. He made himself available any time I needed to communicate. He was very affordable and let me pay him in monthly payments. He got the job done quickly and effectively. Thanks to him, I was able to spend many happy years with my children. ??

Liar and hypocrite. He doesn't care about the children but only cares for his pocket. He has no concerns if the relationship between the children and a parent is at risk. He will make his clients sworn false affidavit just to win the case. Hard to communicate and negotiate with him during the litigation but will try to settle 5 min before a motion at court.

I had two previous lawyers who didn't fight for me during my divorce. I decided to try yet another lawyer after a friend referred me to him. I am so glad I did. Mr. Summers communicated well with me and I finally felt that someone had my back. He knows what he is doing and isn't scared to fight back even the most DIRTY Divorce lawyers in Ottawa(Ron Paritzky).

At first I thought Mr. Summers was a hard worker with the energy of a just-graduated lawyer. But having refused to sign documents, Mr. Summers apparently put pressure on Gorette, his secretary to sign an affidavit in her own name on the case. Is it ethical to get your secretary to swear and affidavit and then slap your client's name on it, just because your client won't and can't agree to unethical tactics? Personally, I don't think any lawyer who engages in such tactics has any business practicing law. But, that's just my opinion.

John might make a good corporate lawyer. However, I found that he lacks the tact needed for family law. John also has the apparent bad habit of hatching lies without any regard to the consequences of those lies against family members. John is an intelligent and charming guy but it is my opinion that he lacks ethics and is not trustworthy. Don't let John destroy your family like he did mine.

I wish John had been as respectful of my family as he is with is own. John destroyed my family with his ego-centred exploitation of my family which turned family members against each other. If you're seeking a sensitive family lawyer, please go elsewhere.

John is fantastic. He is very knowledgeable and honest. You can always count on him to offer a balanced perspective. Highly recommend, if you can afford him - as he is quite pricey.

The worst experience ever with that lawyer, did not do anything that he promises, big lack of communication, I could go on and on. Do not do the same mistake I did, and spend all your money on him. My advise, do some research about the lawyer you will be hiring

Mr. Summers took on my case after my previous lawyer stopped representing me, and was refered to him by two friends. He hasn't wasted any time in responding to emails and has shown high interest in my case. Has assured me how things are gonna proceed, and has been on track ever since. He is pricey, but efficient and gets things done. I highly recommend him.

I know John both personally and as my lawyer in a very heated custody dispute. He is a good family man with solid values. He is a good litigator and trial lawyer, he opposes some of the best lawyers in the city successfully and without hesitation. He reserves the aggresive lawyer tactics for when they are truly needed and obviously saving you money. He is a fraction of the price of other highly sought trial attourneys. John is excellent in my opinion as is his assistant
