This charges an insane amount and is not for her client, but for herself. She was hired to help with a complex separation. She started to side with the other party. When she was asked about her approach regarding a perceived conflict of interest (her siding with the other party), she was quick to dismiss the case ... almost $20,000.00 later. She was contacted by phone to try to remediate the situation, but instead, she took the money and ran.

I cannot recommend Karen Muir. She claimed she had dealt with clients who were professionals, yet she was in over her head on my file and didn't admit it. Wasted time, dragged out the file, wasn't prepared for meetings and fired me after I requested an agenda for a significant meeting. I suspect she doesn't wish to work with people who expect efficient and effective representation. I overheard her planning with an opposing lawyer on another file to end up in arbitration rather than try to finalize the divorce more efficiently. She billed me for time she wasted telling me all about her family. Maybe she can handle simple, quick divorces, but otherwise, she's not a lawyer that provides any value for money. I've hired many lawyers over the years and Karen Muir would rank in the bottom 5%.

Burn through 2500 and only managed to review my previous tax records to determine how much more she could charge me. When it was agreed With My spose to sit down and negotiate a settlement with lawyers present, she was unavailable for multiple dates Presented without explanation. On multiple occasions send correspondence to me misspelling my name. So attention to detail is grossly lacking. If you are going to take my money At least spell my name right. Her lack of communication resulted in increased animosity and lengthen the time required to reach a settlement.
