Ian has been my lawyer for over 20 years now and for good reason. He is extremely knowledgeable, respectful and courteous. Terrible. Bills hours for no reason. Disorganized. Brings in irrelevant issues and omits to address the important ones to protect his clients. If you are starting with him...get out NOW. If you are considering hiring him...look elsewhere. There are many competent lawyers in Montreal.

He is one of those lawyers that is all ridiculous bark and no class. He will dump documents last minute to opposing council, he will demand that things get done a certain way after he looses in court, and he will encourage his clients to attack using information that has no relevance…causing permanent damage in relationships where children are involved. Sadly he simply does not understand that even in divorce, parents need to cooperate. He submits evidence that he feels demonstrates his arguments, but that have no relevance. I haven't seen him in a court room yet where he isn't laughed at or told off by a judge, and he certainly hasn't won anything except money in his pocket since he gives really poor legal advice.

I had an exceptionally complicated and difficult case. Ian helped me win full custody of my child. Full custody--to do that, especially in Quebec, a province which to my understanding has the highest rate of awarding shared custody in Canada, is hardly a small feat. Ian was not only knowledgeable about the law, but an excellent communicator about the often confusing legal issues and terms relevant to my case. It was also obvious to me that he has a genuine passion and respect for the law . I think this is in part, what drove him to work the late hours and attend to the impromptu needs of my case. A classy, smart, compassionate, and experienced lawyer-I commend him without reservation.
