Once he had my money, he told me I had no case as told to him by the lawyer of the opposition. I thought as a lawyer who agreed to take my case, he'd be fighting for me but not so. The last I heard from him, he promised to rethink things + get back to me, that was a year ago.

If you want to lose every cent you own and getting nothing accomplished - this is the lawyer who will steal you blind. Will prolong case with frivolous items and will not accomplish anything.When you speak up about expenditures and your rights... he dumps you as client. He is senile and can't remember anything nor can find file items you have sent him three times. Find a lawyer that does not want to go all the way to trial and wants to resolve outside the court. Howard Staats only wants clients he can take for all their worth and makes you think he will win at trial. In the end everyone loses except for Staats who walks away with thousands and nothing accomplished.

Howard Staats is one heck of a busy lawyer. Before retaining him, go check him out in action (at the Brantford court house). Honestly, he will represent anyone with money. So, if you want an expensive lawyer who has very little time for you, then retain the elderly Mr Howard Staats. He seems well-knowledged in law (& judges respect him) but he retains FAR too many clients. He has so many clients that he literally left court and forgot to represent his client. It was a bit of a joke in the courtroom when another lawyer called Staats on his cell phone to ask him where he went. His client and the judge weren't laughing though.

Your are better to get a paralegal. No advice, no communication, bad advice, poor quality checking on documents, Passive in Court, letting other lawyer walk on him. I went to him on a recomendation and wished I had not.
