This lawyer is a thief. She drags out your file and runs up a bill. After months of paying her fees, I have nothing to show but for some emails. I honestly believe she doesn’t know what she’s doing. She makes excuses of always being in court but i had my friend call to ask for an appointment the same day she said she was in court and guess who was suddenly available for a paid consult. Liar and a thief!!! Stay away!

One of the worst lawyers, I have come across. Like many of the people who have reported here, she charges money but doesn't do anything. After charging me $1000' of dollars. she only the disclosure and that too a shabby job. Missed a lot of key information. Please please do not sign up with her. Now I found a lawyer who did in 2 weeks what she took months to do. I would like to place a complain against her with the law society of ontario. I had great satisfaction in firing her although she charged me a lot of doing hardly anything.

I feel obliged to share with those of you who are doing your due diligence, that my experience with this lawyer was incredibly disappointing! Patricia did not protect my interests in negotiating a separation agreement, and her negligence has since caused tremendous stress, legal costs and financial losses that could have and should have easily been avoided. Patricia should not be practicing law. She is shockingly incapable of calculating numbers, and instead has her staff execute those tasks. I implore you to avoid working with Patricia at all costs. Protect your interests and find a competent lawyer who actually cares.

All she want is your money, she doesnt care about your case. She has the knowledge but she is very rude and is not empathetic about her clients. Trust all the negative comments people posted here. She will be sending bills for every single thing even of a phone call or just a text message done with her client. She will take days to get back to you and its always her assistant who responds. Beware.

Stay away from this lawyer. She has very good knowledge but she lacks empathy and coordination and is pretty quick sending you the bill each month but will never provide good answers to your questions and rather would respond with vague answers. 80% of My time and money was wasted working with her and i have ended up paying $13000 in just 5 months where with another lawyer i paid only $7000 for 10 months who did much hard work than her. I regret leaving that lawyer and if my case wasn’t at risk i would never consider hiring her and she took good advantage of my situation.

This lawyer is not viable. She took a retainer from me and I’m constantly having to follow up to get anything done in my matter. But guess what? She’s never late sending a bill. Stay away unless you have time and money to waste.

Ms. Nelson was very charming in my initial consulation however things changed quickly after retaining her. I was going through a very difficult separation and was in a vunerable position and Ms. Nelson took full advantage of this fact. She was condecending and a bully. Her contract stated that her clerk would sit in to take notes from time to time however right from the start Patricia was unavailable and her clerk was in charge. I had to make an appointment through the clerk to speak with Patricia and often had to wait a few days. Every time I had a meeting or court appearance with Patricia, she insisted her clerk knew the details and had to be present and I was charged both peoples fees($450+$350). This is deceit as far as I'm concerned and it saddens me that lawyers can get away with this without recourse. After almost a year of not getting anywhere I voiced my concerns and Ms. Nelson said that our communication had broken down and that I can pick up my file and find another lawyer.

Had a 450.00 consult in which Patricia wouldn’t let me complete a single sentence. She berated and spoke down to me for an hour with very little substance or logic and had already decided my case was too difficult for her to handle. She waited until the end of the hour to pretend that in good conscience she couldn’t charge me the 1600.00 for travel time every court day but knew where I lived from before the call even took place. Once she had established that she didn’t have the knowledge or experience to go forward she was extremely difficult to try to communicate with. Would never recommend.

Patricia did not provide any legal advice for my divorce. She went through the motions and largely forward documents that I put together myself. I found all kinds of legal precedent for my case that she had never heard of. I had to fight to get her to put allowable expenses in the Divorce Mate calculations. She charges exorbitant fees and did not fight for me. She basically took my money to file papers. I would not recommend her to anyone. Unfortunately so many lawyers seem to be this way. She just happens to be twice the price.

She took $3000 from my mom and did nothing, then asked for another $3000 from my dad while she sat back and let him take anything he wanted from my mom. At best she helped my dad, whom she was supposed to be helping my mom fight off. If you're looking to be take through the wringer, this is your attorney!

I believe that hiring Ms. Nelson was the right decision for me. She is very knowledgeable, professional and confident. She have a lot of patience in dealing with any situation. After the first meeting, it was apparent Ms.Nelson is a quick study . She knows the law, and ‘gets’people. In end-stage matrimony, it’s not enough to be smart and thoughtful.(Although,she is both). Our opponent in the ring was often combative and unpleasant. On the brink of heading to court,Ms. Nelson took over the wheel and steered everyone to settlement. The Year long process was costly, but not because of the bill..which was fair. It was a difficult personal time, fraught with crisis...something that Ms Nelson (and her lovely assistant Vian) handled with care & compassion,ultimately eclipsing the graceless and petty style of opposing counsel. Forever grateful.

So after my initial consultation with Ms Nelson, I knew she was the right lawyer for me. First I want to say I’m not a fan of lawyers but I can tell you Ms Nelson is not an ordinary lawyer AT ALL. My separation or should I say my ex wife was extremely difficult and knew how what bottoms to press. Ms Nelson was able to calm me down every time and reassure everting would work out. She was extremely honest and did tell me that there were things I was going to lose and others I would gain but I would be able to recover. WHO KNEW THAT A LAWYER WITH A HEART AND ETHICAL MORALS EXISTED??!! Ms Nelson and her assistant Vian (who is literally Ms Nelson’s right hand) are truly amazing people and I guarantee who ever uses their services will not be disappointed at all. Great news! My mother was able to obtain Super Visa which grants to come and go From Canada for next 8 years without a need to apply for one. You have one great law firm, and you are one amazing lawyer. All I can say is "thank you" for getting my mother's visa quickly. Your legal knowledge helped me when other lawyers couldn't/wouldn't. I initially retained Ms. nelson based on the consultation I had with her. She appeared to be tough and someone who could be my voice when I couldn't do it for myself. I later learned that there is so much more to her than just that. She is so kind, caring and compassionate, I never once felt like i was some "file" to her. I strongly believe that she actually cares for her clients and does everything she can to help them in their situation. Furthermore, she is incredibly knowledgeable, intelligent and professional. I saw her decorum between the communication she had to the other side, and she is strong and truly represents the client's voice, and what is in the best interest of them. Her law clerk, Vian, is another angel. She stood up for me, and was there, in my corner, when I needed support the most. As a team, they were a Godsend. When dealing with separation that involves children the most important thing to achieve is to find a good compassionate lawyer that is willing to help you get out of your mess when you most need it........ I had randomly picked Ms Nelson from the yellow pages and couldn't have made a better choice. Throughout my separation from my wife Ms Nelson always had my best interest in mind. She always kept me well informed as to the best actions to take. Her staff was amazing and was prompt in getting documents to the opposing lawyer and keeping me informed. Never once did they lose their patience with me and my never ending questions and emails - which they responded to asap, even after hours. Patricia R. Nelson is the best. She always makes time for her clients and gets the job done. She knows her stuff very well. Even after 5pm her and law clerk always reply to my emails and always have answers. I would totally recommend her. My matter was successful and she did not advise me to go to court and we won the nice, easy and respectful way. She even made me become good friends with my ex husband and not enemies for the sake of our kids. Even the court clerks love her cuz she always has her stuff ready to go.
