Unprofessional. Took the side of one parent. Never verified anything ex had said against the other. Made assumptions about one parent. If she would have done some fact checking she would have found out the one parent was lying. Cancelled multiple interviews with witnesses several times. This added months to the court case. Was told by her secretary that the GAL medical condition “Vertigo” was the reason the interviews was rescheduled. And the secretary even said she had to pick up Melissa Shannahan from home and drive her to the office. This was all due to her not being able to drive because of her medical condition. If she isn’t able to drive she should not be making legal decisions for a child. She also TRIPLED her fee. Guess it was due to her canceling interviews and rescheduling due to her condition. That added a lot of extra hours that she billed for.
Really don’t know how she can sleep at night.Can only imagine this wasn’t the first time it happened. Probably not the last.

Shannahan gave my son to my abusive now ex husband. Even with the proof he put me in the hospital several times. She even refused to tell me why she would not let me have my son saying I couldn’t afford her answer. I have my own place, my son has his own room and I can take care of my son very well. Instead she chose to let him go with his violently abusive father who lives in his parents garage attic and sleeps in a bunk bed with my son. She does not care about the child whatsoever.

She was baised towards the mother in my family's case which was not the best place for the children to live. My entire extended family agrees with the previous posts about how she handled the case as the GAL. She absolutely does not need to have this position.

I agree with the previous post. Ms. Shannahan does not put the child's best interest first. She was the GAL on my case and tried to give my son back to his mom when the mom tried tried to adopt him out. Ms. Shannahan had all of the paperwork in front of get and still came up with the wrong answer. She met with my son for a total of 12 minutes. How can she make an accurate determination. Even the judge called my son's mom unfit and sadistic.

Mrs Shannahan needs to stay away from family law, she almost gave a 2 yr old baby to his father, who was about to go to jail, charged w 4 felonies...luckily he had a trial coming up the very next week & we were able to get a continuance. Melissa contacted the Father's public defender & spoke w the secretary & went on her word, instead of contacting the DA...and she had all of the police reports! She charged over 1000 to type these papers up, and then had to ammend them Melissa then suggested that custody be given to the parents of this car thieving felon, because the Mother tells lies & she was afraid, that she was going to be a bad influence on the baby! Our child is definitely a little immature, but she didn't deserve to lose her child, her & the baby were with us, now his father is in jail & he was taken from his Mother! OH she was sure to mention our home was modest & the other Gparents had lots of room! Sorry but it takes more than a big house to raise & love a child! Her focus $
