Hired on a legal aid certificate to handle a family law matter. No progress, and VERY poor (virtually non-existent) communication in 2 1/2 years. Basically took the money and ran. Complaint being filed with the Law Society.

I would stay away. Always has an excuse, always busy with something. Corespondance done mostly through email. Poor relations with her client/clients. Keep looking for another lawyer people

Working on a family case for over a year and absolutely diddly s**t done. Impossible to get a hold of, emails come night before a "meeting" to discuss her opinioniated decision. She is a lawyer after the money and thats it!! This is why i give her a low rating, would rather have the neighbors dog represent me. Time for a new lawyer... No No No on rebecca for a lawyer.

Hardest person ever to get a hold of. She uses a million excuses as to why she doesn't have time to respond. She leaves everything to last minute and is very disorganized. Wonderful person but not at all available to her clients.

Rebecca Carey was direct and honest. She is a one person band but that is why her price was fair and you need every penny you have while getting a divorce. Previous comments seem unfair and seem to be treating her like she is a big overpaid lawyer that works at a over priced firm. Thank you Rebecca for your dedication and advice on my divorce.

I overall had a good experience working with Rebecca Carey. She came recommended from the VAWSEC and was kind and compassionate while working with me on my separation agreement. I agree that it can take a couple of days before she gets back to you as she has no secretary but really that is the only draw back that I experienced. I would recommend using her.

Rebecca fought for me in every way. My first meeting with her went from angry and personal attack towards my ex to "This is what is important to me". Rebecca put things in perspective for me and the output of the result was my children winning and not my ex. Rebecca does not have an assistant so the callbacks were sometimes delayed two days which would be my only complaint at this time. I highly recommend!

My sister in law saw this lawyer and she was totally given bad advice. She told my sister in law that my brother in law had no interest in the family home because his name wasnt on title. Guess what? He saw a lawyer and ended up with half of the (very little) equity in the home. Rebecca totally screwed up. I told my sister in law rebecca was wrong but she didnt listen to me because a "lawyer" told her he had no interest in the house and she believed her.

Rebecca was great to work with during difficult times. Just like the previous review, she is a one woman show which can appear she is not "working" on your requests however she always had the work completed on time and always answered my questions within a day or two. The only negativity I have is she really pushes her opinion (even though professional). I believe overall she was right, however I just felt sometimes not heard or listened to. This is by far not enough for me to provide a low rating, therefore I "knocked" it down to a 4 for communication and tenacity.

Did not return several calls made. Did not complete necessary paper work. This lawyer failed to represent me and failed me a client overall on important time sensitive legal issues. What was achieved however, was a great deal of added stress and the search for a new lawyer (starting over). You would be better ahead doing things yourself if retaining this lawyer. I equally agree with first comment posted.

Rebecca: She's a one woman show in St. Thomas and not well versed in family law. She has no secretary and fails to remind clients of their need to attend her in court and she gets behind on her work. She has no tenacity, and fails to mention many of the possible options that are out there. Overall, not a wise choice.
