We used Valerie on the purchase and sale of two homes in 2013 and 2018. We found her exceedingly responsive and we appreciated the fact that she took the time to personally explain each step to us. One of the deals got very complicated and Valerie and her office had to do a lot more work than a standard real estate purchase and sale normally requires and we had to approach her about compensating them for the extra time. In no small part due to her efforts, the deal was saved. Valerie even answered a quick question, many years after the fact, free of charge. Valerie is ethical and understands her responsibilities very well. Anytime we need a real estate attorney in NJ, Valerie Avrin will be whom we call.

Valerie helped us tremendously with the sale of my Mother’s home. She went above and beyond for us. As you can imagine we had many questions, especially since it was an estate sale. Valerie and her staff answered all our questions, and returned our calls within the work day. Valerie and her staff were always pleasant, and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Valerie and have recommended her to several people.

My wife and I utilized the services of Valerie Avrin as our attorney for the sale of our home in 2015.
The Service:
First, when we used Valerie as our closing attorney, we did NOT work directly with Valerie. We were assigned to a paralegal who took care of our closing. I would not have thought this was bad, except for the fact that our paralegal lacked the general experience and knowledge to handle our closing properly. We experienced more errors and oversights from this office that we could have ever imagined.
The Professionalism:
Professionalism was essentially non-existent with this office. The emails we received were short and most times very difficult to interpret. We rarely received an explanation for anything that was requested or happening, and often major things were just overlooked.

I had an excellent experience with Valerie and her paralegal, Tara. From day one, Valerie returned my calls and answered all my questions. Tara was always very quick to respond to my emails and follow-up with other parties. The closing was effortless and Valerie was great. Valerie was recommended to me by my nephew and son who also used her services, and I will definitely use her again for my future real estate dealings. I give the Valerie Avrin, Esq. Not happy at all. Complete disappointment! I was not contacted about correspondence with other parties. There was no time being put into both my sale or purchase. Items were overlooked of importance. Her staff was consistently rude and dismissive.If you want to do all the work yourself and get treated like crap, go with Avrin! But make sure you read every word in every document involved so that you don't get screwed, not that they will contact you. You will have to know they received it and call them to ask about it. Then they will act like you are bothering them and have no idea what you're talking about.

Valerie really helped me out. I had recently moved to NJ and had no legal resource to review a mortgage document. She helped me out immediately through email and phone and did not charge me for her expertise. it was a welcome surprise. I definitely recommend her.

I purchased a home and the seller's were difficult. I had title issues, inspection issues. Valerie and Georgia worked overtime to make sure that these problems were solved timely so that I could close before my rate lock expired. After closing there were issues that came up and Valerie's office continued to support me until there was a resolution. Valerie and Georgia took extra time to communicate with my bank, with the seller's attorney and with me to clear up difficulties and to make this purchase happen.

Valerie spoke in general legal terms and almost never regarding our specific closing. She gave us incorrect information more than once, and caused numerous problems during the weeks after the closing. I want want to write so much more about our experience but the lack of character allowed here will not allow it.
Conclusion:
I think you can guess where I stand on this one. The only positive thing about The Law Offices of Valerie Avrin are that:
1. She has a law degree, and...
2. She has paralegals who return emails promptly.
I can not think of another positive thing to say about my experience working with Valerie and her staff over the last two months (and I have been sitting here trying... really hard actually). This has been as stresdsful and difficult of an experience that you could imagine. I would recommend if you are buying or selling a home that you look elsewhere for your legal representation.

Ms. Avrin is not about the money, she spent time answering several questions I had for which she could have billed and did not. She responds to her messages in a timely manner. I highly recommend her for any of your real estate needs.

Valerie is the best attorney that I ever dealt with. She is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I have used her a couple of times and plan on using her as long as she is still practicing law. This Law firm is Obnoxious & sloppy! Been told every time I called that Ms Avrin is on conference. Paralegals are inconsiderate, and they do not have any clue how to treat customers. As a buyer, do not trust this law firm. Contract was received but never was told about it, or ever communicated. I was told by Paralegal that they had "email issue". I was put on hold endlessly. When finally reached Ms Avrin, I was told that she does not one want to hear my concerns, and there was an "Email Hack" in her law firm. She said this to me twice in the course of dealing with this insensitive woman. She also had the nerves to tell me that, she hoped to leave the office by 5:15pm and indicated that I was wasting her time at one point. She has no courtesy to speak to a customer. Do NOT hire her, she may end up wasting your precious time. She claims to be busy; well the world is busy, everyone is busy. Learn how to represent your customers or close your law! I am the customer! Do Not Hire her!

I had a very bad experience myself, when buying a house. They over charged me money without rendering the service they claim they purchased. I have to spend 1 1/2 years to get the paper work, after repeated emails and phone calls. Finally they purchase the service after 1 1/2 years and gave me the paper work. Don't believe a word they tell u.

Many times we complain when things go wrong and never stop to acknowledge the good.
I just wanted to tell you that Georgia is doing a very good job on your behalf.
She is not only on top of things but is very professional, easy to talk to, great communicator both verbally and by email, and does what she tells you she will do.
Though I know she is very busy but she finds time to return every phone call. We can depend on professionalism from your office.

I recently bought and sold a home. I had a different attorney for my old home and changed to a new attorney because the last one not good at all and took forever to make it happen. I just closed on my new home and Ms. Avrin was amazing. Not only did she handle my new home with expertise but also helped me deal with my old home issues with what should have been handled by my other attorney. Her assistants/paras are really knowledgeable and help me tremendously. I wish I had her for the closing of my old home. A friend recommended her and it was the best advice I took. Thanks Valerie

This lawyer almost cost me my new home. They are awful at communicating and each time you call, the secretary will tell you that Valerie Avrin is on a conference call. She will never return your call either. You have to deal with paralegals who are extremely unprofessional. They will tell you they have done what you have asked them to do, but in reality they have never done that. In my case, asked them to contact the seller's attorney to tell about an issue that came up. They confirmed to me that they did but a week later, the seller’s attorney wanted to cancel the deal because he had never received my message. Stay away from this unprincipled firm.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Ms.Avrin for two closings in the last six years. I have found the office to be extremely competent and knowledgable. When things went slow on the other end of the table this firm's staff made constant calls to the other parties involved to ensure a timely closing, mistake free. I have had a number of real estate transactions during the last 10 years with Ms. Avrin and by far she and her staff are the most conscientious and knowledgable real estate professionals in Monmouth County. The attorney has your best interests at heart and goes the extra mile to negotiate any problems that occur during the transaction or at the closing. The staff works as a team and anyone of them can answer any questions you may have. I had the pleasure of dealing with her senior paralegal Arlene who was invaluable and extremely competent. All in all I could not be more satisfied. They have my strongest recommendation!

From the very first communication on a complex real estate transaction, everything was handled for me with clarity and efficency. Communication was quick and consistent. Turn around time on needed work was always executed in a timely manner. Your file will be passed over to one of her paralegals. Communication is non-existent.
Emails went unanswered, phone calls not returned at various points in my dealings with this firm. It was near-impossible to reach Ms. Avrin. The office seems to protect her from having to talk to her clients.
What you will be paying for is essentially a legal paper pusher. The required legal documentation is all they do. They will not read your inspection report, your appraisal, or mortgage commitment. Any questions you have or advice you need must be specifically asked for and asked for repeatedly.
Be prepared for simple things to take a long time to happen. The forms and communication they prepared for us looked like form letter copy and paste jobs. Mistakes were made and our requests misunderstood. All of this and it was still VERY slow. You will need to follow up repeatedly to ensure that things do happen.
