I hired Mr. Robertson for help with a complicated estate issue. First his assistant lost my signed agreement (though not my retainer fee of $3500). Mr. Robertson wrote a letter to the other attorney. Months went by and nothing happened. Mr. Robertson answered my emails with five word messages or not at all. Nine months later he obtained part of the requested trust agreement, but not the amendments, the most important part. Mr. Robertson finally phoned me and said: "There's not that much you can do." This was news. Clearly he didn't want to be bothered with my case. Nor would he return what was left of my retainer fee. After two registered letters asking him to return the fee, I had to file a complaint against him with the California Bar. He padded his expenses and sent me a check for about $1200. All he had done was write two letters and make several phone calls. Save yourself money and aggravation and avoid Hugh Duff Robertson.
