This lawyer has moved to a new firm. He was head of a massive firm now he runs the same department for a much much smaller firm at Brown Beattie O’Donovan LLP. Honestly everything seems suspicious. AVOID AT ALL COST. He sounds amazing on the radio, but there is a reason why he is on the radio. It's because he is terrible. He is a con-artist with a license. He will take you for all your money. If you tell him your willing to lose your house if you get full custody he will run up 150-200k bill (true story)....and he will do this when you have a very slim chance in the first place. He plays dirty. Like someone else said...if opposing council ask him 3 things in a email he will answer only of the question and it will be incorrect. It will take you a total of 6 emails to get the answers instead of one. He will bill you for 6 emails at 10 minutes each. 1hr total at a rate of 525+HST. What should of happen is him answering all 3 questions correct in the first, and bill for 10min.

Iain only cares about meeting his billing obligations for the Firm. He will nickle and dime you. He does the bare minimum while maximizing the billings. After many years, the only pockets that benefitted were his and the firm's. He will drag your file out as long as he can so that you can pay for his porsche and who knows how many other porsches for his family. You will go broke. You will cry your eyes out trying to figure out how to pay his bills. Even when there are months of no contact, you still get a bill!! Feels like he's in cahoots with the other side. Gives himself nice big raises every year for his hourly and retainer rates too. My advice is go into a lawyer and offer a total amount you will pay to resolution of your case. Wish I had done that. Don't go with an hourly rated lawyer. He also has no spine to stand up to the arrogant and ruthless lawyers out there.

My divorce was a nightmare. My ex wanted full custody of the kids and basically every penny that we'd ever accumulated. Iain not only managed to maintain my 50/50 custody, he also made sure I didn't pay a penny more to my ex than I was supposed to. If (God forbid) I was ever to get divorced again, I would not hesitate to use Iain again, and I have referred him to numerous others, all of whom have been more than satisfied with his efforts.

He was not my lawyer... he represented my ex wife ... he would not respond to any of my lawyers corespondents correctly (for example if asked several questions... he would delay responses by only answering on questions at a time and often incorrectly) and never in a timely manner. He sent his junior representatives to court instead of him showing up. He should be disbarred. Basically he dragged out legal proceedings making my ex wife and I pay more legal fees and adding more stress to a stressful situation.

Iain represented me extremely well in a hospitality industry dispute. Aside from his dress being unusual(yellow sweater) he was indeed top notch.

This guy is has a serious case of snarly lawyer syndrome, he needs to be closely managed as he plays fast and loose with your money. He constantly talks his clients into going for broke, and that is exactly how they end up. Represent yourself, you will have better chances.

Each time Iain and I met, I felt I was introducing myself for the first time. I felt Iain was not prepared for our meetings. He gave me little confidence in his ability. I felt he provided me with little value. So I terminated our contract early in the proceedings. I rarely participate in this rating sites. In this case, I feel strongly. I feel Iain should be avoided.

He will charge you even for saying "hellow" to you. His hidden costs are enormous. When it comes to money, he does not have any ethical sense.

With a mission statement that purports to provide effective solutions...nothing could be further from the truth. Be wary...they will try to rope you in and my advice is to RUN away as fast as you can! This lawyer and firm are not recommended.
