We enlisted the services of David Hart for my girlfriend's divorce. We were told that the divorce would cost 10 to 12 thousand dollars. During one meeting early in the process, my girlfriend really wanted guidance on what to do to make this process quick as possible, and asked Mr. Hart what she should do.. He replied with "That's not how this works. You tell me what you want to say, I'll write it up, and send it to his lawyer, and we'll see what he replies. If we don't get what we want, we'll try something else." At that moment, we should have cut our losses and went with another lawyer. Months into the process, we received a bill which seemed extremely high for the work we thought was done... We asked for a detailed account of the work done, which they did, but surprisingly, come back with a much reduced bill, and instead of apologizing for the mistake, said we should be happy that they bill was adjusted. In the end, the bill was over $50,0000, not $10,000 to $12,000.

Extremely competent and very compassionate . Fees were much less than my ex-husband's lawyer. Explained the whole process in a manner that made sense and did not push me into anything. End result was exactly what he said it would be! I hope I never go through this again but if I do, I will be returning to Mr. Hart.

I felt like he was not looking out for my best interests, but was looking for any way to milk the most money out of me and my ex. The judge berated him at trial because in her words "there was no way we should have been at trial that soon since our separation". I was left broke, with no RRSP's or savings. My ex husband was awarded everything and two years later I am stuck looking for a new lawyer to correct the damage David Hart left me with. I would NOT recommend him.

Grossly underestimated the cost and length of proceeding. Was uncommunicative, case was plagued by staff illness and holidays. Was repeatedly billed for staff to review file when there was no action on the file for months at a time. Did not advise me of things like the option of putting money in an interest bearing savings account, did not assist with ensuring the other party complied with the order. Was rude on the phone despite calling back to apologize. All in all a horrible and disappointing experience, particularly as he had come recommended. I certainly would not recommend him.
