Claims to be the top divorce attorney in Toronto. I would disagree. Halpern law have very little understanding of high conflict, abusive personalities and lack the skill to represent clients going up against difficult people. They do not have any useful strategies to protect clients against post separation and financial abuse. Robert Halpern and associates dragged out my file unnecessarily. Billing practices are questionable. Billing thousands for useless timeline spreadsheets. After paying tens of thousands of dollars and 15 months of hell with no results, I told them I was no longer able to pay and would represent myself. Only then did I get some movement on my file.

The quality of the advice and work rendered by Robert to our daughter who was a respondent in a complicated case was outstanding. He quickly replaced an ill-prepared lawyer. Using the exact same information available, he quickly convinced the Court to stay a recently rendered Court decision. Then, he quickly convinced the Court of Appeal of Ontario to hear his appeal. Moving forward, he took the best interests of the children as his benchmark. He obtained an OCL investigation. He communicated with our daughter on a regular basis. He quickly intervened at critical times with excellent advice. Our daughter and her children obtained the Quality of Life that they needed. His knowledge, experience and work ethics are worth every nickel.

robert is typical of most divorce lawyers he loves to bill he is an average lawyer from an ability point of view.

Good lawyer, but more interested in the fee than completing his case. Fees are ridiculously disproportionate to the service. There are a number of lawyers in Toronto who are just as effective at a fraction of the cost. Best to avoid Torkin Manes unless you have unlimited resources.
