A bull in a china shop in the courtroom - an embarrassment when in front of a competent judge, relies upon emotional manipulation. The factum Van Weert presented was questioned by the judge as being a factum. Uses inflammatory techniques, as pointed out by other reviewers, to try and push opposing clients (and the opposing counsel) to give up out of annoyance, anger, and fees spent unnecessarily. Requests endless documentation from both parties - though sets up special 'fee arrangements' with her own clients so that endless bcc'd emails between the client and ex-spouse don't rack up enormous fees. Will not permit settlements of any reasonable suggestion. Tells clients what will make us feel good, but not the truth - a shocking realization upon switching firms. This woman should have been reported years ago, thank god she is no longer practicing.

She is a aggressive and stupid. She came across like an embarrassing buffoon dealing with the judge. I was so embarrassed every time she opened her ignorant mouth. Poor stupid woman. Her assistant filed the wrong papers five times. Wow she is an embarrassment to lawyers..

Supports Narcisstic-personality disorder clients and presents lies to achieve her objective to destroy families and children. She will do everything to destroy your children's lives. Life is too short to hire someone who has this objective in place. Likes attract likes. Be very careful.

My husbands former spouse and he reached a basic agreement.It needed lawyers to finalise mortgages etc Ms Van Weert inflamed situations, which we chose to ignore. Her letters were laced with emotion and allegations that had nothing to do with the separation agreement at hand. Different individuals would have reacted badly, our lawyer always advised:ignore the emotion, ignore the personal slights. Our lawyer was very calm. I do not know how Ms Van Weert could be called a mediator? Her paperwork and record keeping were good however, I'll give her that. Ms Van Weert chased all sorts of avenues and after a year we were back to the original agreement, the lawyers all the richer thanks to Ms Van Weert's emotive tactics.

I am very impressed with the mixture of both common sense and strong professional experience that guides Ingrid's counsel and actions. I would recommend Ingrid to any person requiring a family lawyer. She has been incredibly responsive, empathetic and instructional (which has been helpful as I came into this knowing nothing about family law and divorce).

Very unprofessional, does not respond to emails, or phone calls, poor knowledge, very careless, she did not file in the court that she is my representative, ended up knowing, accidentally, about a case conference related to me, from the court rather than her, though the order has her name on it. I contacted her, to verify how she misinformed me, she ignored my message.

I am a lawyer client in difficult times. Ingrid delivers what responsible clients should want - the best advice based on the facts, her knowledge of the law and her experience before the courts.Ingrid is a true professional. Those who criticize her here interestingly seem to be on the other side or just don't want to hear what she has to say. I would recommend Ingrid to those who really need a good family law lawyer and want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly to make informed decisions.

My husband a very severe alcoholic walked out of detox and into Ms.Van Weert's office. She wrote a scathing letter to me full of false accusations and demanding thousands of dollars be paid to the alcoholic based on nothing but his very sick mind. Then asking if I would go to counselling to save the marriage. How unprofessional can a lawyer be?

I had a signed Legal Separation in seven months working with Ingrid. I first met her through a seminar she presented at UofT and I think she is an excellent family lawyer. I continue to work with Ingrid regarding spousal support issues and consider her my strongest support professional. She is very clear when clarity is most required, and strategic when necessary. I strongly recommend Ingrid for any person needing a divorce lawyer.

I was astounded when I read these ratings and comments! I can't help but believe that these are people who were on the other side of a divorce from her. I personally hired Ms. van Weert for my divorce and found her nothing but professional and fair. She told me the truth when I needed to hear it and explained everything to me throughout the process. I have recommended her to friends and family and will continue to do so. I work in business so am well aware of lawyer's rates and thought hers were more than reasonable considering her experience and expertise.

Very unprofessional, said she was not my slave after asking her to write a letter for over two weeks, no returned emails. Then said how dare I kick her around like a dog....30,000 another year and a half and no closer to final settlement.

Ms. van Weert breached confidentiality disclosing information we had discussed with an individual she knew who was also a friend of my ex's. My ex then used this information.
