Literally the worst lawyer you could hire. Doesn’t care about you or your case at the slightest o ly care about the pay check and will drag out your case as long as possible to leech as much money from you as possible. Just a terrible human being in general. It felt like he was against me and on the crowns side for the majority of the hearings. Literally would put me down In court and lie to me over the phone. I don’t know how he is able to call himself a lawyer. He probably hates himself, he does not deserve to represent anyone. Please do yourself a favour and never hire this man for your defence he will only pretend to want to help you like the slimy soul sucking scumbag he is. You would be better off representing yourself. I can not imagine how he is able to sleep at night knowing he has ruined people’s lives and given minimal effort while lying to your face. Truly disgusting and shameful.

Derek you ruined my life by not being prepared for court. The way you presented yourself and conducted yourself as my council was disgusting. You cost me any hope of getting an appeal. This job appears (from my perspective) as just a paycheck for you. It not right that you represent people as you do. I'm embarrassed for you. You should be ashamed of yourself. If anyone is thinking of retaining this lawyer, please! Think twice. I will never recommend him. Other lawyers know him to be "inaffective council", there are better lawyers, if not . Represent yourself. You have a better chance than if you hire him. Derek don't bother pushing this review down. I have to live with a bogus news article for the rest of my life. You will have to live with my poor reviews for the rest of your career.

Derek Lovatt is a great guy and a great lawyer. He listened to me carefully and defended me hard. He was going to take my case all the way to trial but in the end he got the charges dropped. Couldn't ask for better than that. Well--maybe not getting charged lol!

Derek Lovatt was retained through Legal Aid and a Godsend, literally. He investigated what I told him, followed instructions and was thorough. He defended my rights in court and against the FALSE ACCUSATIONS/CHARGES from the lying Calgary Crown (SARAH STEWART, JAYME WILLIAMS) & Calgary Police (DANNYBOY WALKER, GWYNETH AMAT) social workers (SHAUNA ASSELSTINE, HEATHER STRANG, IVANA MILOVAC) lying lawyers (JAMES FREDERICK ROBERTSON; MICHELLE PAPERO; DONNIE DOUCET; JOCELYN HILL). God bless Derek Lovatt!! Well done sir! (For the record, we never did go to trial - not even pre-trial - because the filthy, fraudulent Crown ****s DROPPED ALL THE CHARGES after they had harmed me in anti-Father court.
