Initial consult, I wanted unequal division of property(male). "Yes we specialize in that" I did not get Lorne, rather his son and a senior council who was well beyond his best before date.Eventualy told that no male has ever received unequal division in BC. Opposition lawyer would constantly complain and harrass, my council would not push back. Senior council would look at me and say " get out the Vaseline " I felt boxed in as I didn't have real representation and to go to court with them would have been a mistake. I accepted the separation agreement where I would have to divide any future earnings with my ex spouse FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, on their recommendation, -mostly to stop the financial bleeding. I subsequently retained other legal council who provided push back and we achieved a final divorce agreement with NO FURTHER PAYMENTS to my ex. About $50k to MacLean law.about $5k to subsequent council. MacLean Law is a successful business but I would NEVER hire them again.

I have a strong feeling of support with Mr MacLean, for the past years I have been through many lawyers never feeling that they had the backbones necessary to get it done. My divorce was an arduous process. I was dealing with an ex who was dishonest and sought out to essentially bring me to my knees and leave the kids and I with nothing. I retained Mr MacLean to represent me for access to my child, this was after having consulted three prior lawyers who felt that obtaining equal parenting time was unlikely. Lorne oversaw the preparation of an extraordinarily thorough and convincing court application, and represented me in court, leading to a substantial increase in the parenting time. We were scheduled for a longer court session 3 months later, but at the prospect of facing Mr MacLean in court again, the opposing party settled out of court, granting equal parenting time for both parents. As a father requiring legal representation for access issues, I cannot recommend this firm strongly enough. I was thoroughly impressed with their fluency and comfort in navigating the issues and how quickly they achieved success in my case (about 6 months from the time of initial consultation) despite numerous stalling tactics from the opposing party. I am grateful to Mr MacLean and his team for this excellent outcome.

I only interviewed this lawyer to handle a review of an existing court order. He is obviously very smart, but in my case...this didn't work out. If you have him right out of the gate he is probably good. But I had already been through the lawyer tread-mill and spent lots of money previously. MacLean didn't seem to understand what had already happened. For an obviously smart lawyer, I found it disconcerting he didn't recognize how to proceed.
