Laurie was our mediator in a highly contentious child support and custody battle. She is certainly a bully lawyer but she knows her stuff and she delivers the results. I didn't get what I wanted coming out of that mediation but she saved us a lengthy and more expensive court battle. We did sign an agreement. I was also impressed that Laurie was compassionate enough (didn't look like one to me at first:)) to not charge me for the mediator report. I was the one paying for mediation (as my ex refused) and Laurie has kindly offered that she doesn't prepare the report so that I didn't incur more costs.

I have grown up with lawyers, used lawyers, have many lawyers in my family, and I have never known one to be as manipulative, self-serving and obviously not out to do anything but put money in her pocket. She holds on to documents and correspondence, and does not always share them as she receives them, which usually only creates more badness amongst a couple already dealing with enough going through divorce. This woman deserves to be dis-barred.

Laurie and her team provided me with reasonable and practical legal advice which allowed me to finalize my divorce on a streamlined basis. She does not over-promise and provides a realistic assessment of likely outcomes which allowed me to make practical decisions. I don't envy family lawyers - they can only be as reasonable as their clients instructions allow them to be. In reading prior reviews I would guess that it was the client, not Ms. Allen, who was making poor decisions. My experience with Laurie was excellent. Additionally, she passed a great deal of work down to her associate Jordan who did a fantastic job on all fronts. His quality of work was excellent as was his response time. I thought this was an effective way to practice with reduced the costs of my divorce significantly.

Ms. Allen should have advised her client to settle with the excellent offer in hand. Instead they went to court and Ms. Allen made a complete fool of herself, her witnesses and her client. She lied to the judge (who challenged her on it) and attempted to bully her way to a desired ruling. She used arguments that the law should be changed and tried to convince the judge that the ruling should be based on where the law is going, not what it says today. This will likely cost her client several hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ms. Allen couldn't contain her rage and the more she spoke, the worse she made it. In short, it was a train wreck and she turned the trial into a circus!

If you are expecting a Family-Law Lawyer to have a modicum of respect for the sanctity of Family, Ms. Allen is not your gal. She advised my ex-husband to manipulate my Son into moving out of my home to save on Child Support. I'm still picking up the pieces because my Son fell into a depression after he moved out. He's back with me now, no thanks to Ms. Allen. Needless to say, my Son's relationship with his father suffered GREATLY. If your family relationships are already stressed, Ms. Allen will just make it worse.
