James and Rachel (his Law Clerk) are professional, experience and highly efficient. Their experience, professionalism and knowledge was excellent. As a result of his advice and their efficiency, my divorce was completed without any issues. They always responded promptly to e-mails or phone calls, and always chose the most cost-effective strategy. In fact they helped me with correcting and "completing the work" for OTHER lawyer who my former partner hired - that was highly incompetence, this was stressful but their diplomacy and professionalism in every way made it bearable. I would strongly recommend Mr. James Marks, to anyone in need of a first-class family lawyer. My baby son was wrongfully removed by his mother from the United Kingdom to Canada. Against the odds, Mr. Marks was successful in quickly securing his safe return back to England, with a Hague Convention application. Mr. Marks, an incredible judge of character, was able to identify what we were up against with the opposition. James worked closely with me, taking the burden off my shoulders. I trusted him implicitly. I was still in England when he handled everything, including representing me at the hearings. I was kept updated constantly by email and phone. He works quickly, yet is extremely meticulous with detail. He is skillful at drafting statements and letters. Mr. Marks has a diplomatic approach and fights for a just cause. He has a competitive spirit, without being inflammatory. James' proactive conduct of the case meant I felt in control of the direction of the proceeding.

Overall, I had great experience with Mr. James Marks. He is knowledgeable, smart, efficient, patient, and supportive, and is willing to find novel solutions to unusual cases and problems. I talked to three other lawyers before retaining him, all of which sounded very capable in handling even complicated cases, but only those that were familiar to them. When I would talk about my main concern that was somewhat unusual to them, they left me feel hopeless and unsupported. James was the only one to honestly told me he was not fully familiar with that type of problem, but he was willing to help and reassured me to find a solution if there was any, and he did not disappoint me. His rates are not low, but I felt the service was worth every penny I paied. Highly recommended. Before giving up on what you want, talk to him.

This one is totally useless but wasting your money. I made a big mistake to retain him for my child custody case, but was still lucky to realize his true ability and discharge him not too late.

I agree with the review about him becoming unconfident and changing his mind. He also started emailing my ex's lawyer and telling him we will take him to court if he doesn't back down - and i did NOT authorize him to do that AT ALL. Lastly, he emailed me and called me patronizing when i suggested we take a particular stance based on a recent article i read (i like to do my homework too!!)

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mr. Marks. He is knowledgeable, friendly and made me aware of all my options. His response time to emails etc is also excellent and he is a pleasure to deal with generally.

Affordable but very very slow and unproductive. He was pretty friendly and confident at first but turned out to be unconfident and changed his position. If you need a strong lawyer, he is not the one you want to chose.
