During mediation, I questioned why my convicted ex spouse should benefit from the equity I built in our property for four years alone, while he contributed absolutely nothing. She so condescendingly replied that, well he didn’t get to live there, so why would he have to pay for it? Well he couldn’t live there because he was on probation and was criminally barred from the property? And it was a joint debt that I shouldered alone, to his sole benefit? Nice. Abusive ex got a buyout worth more than the original mortgage on the property, and he’s using those funds to financially abuse me with frivolous applications. Oh yeah, I had to get another protection order put in place, which reminds me, it’s coming up for renewal. Thanks LISA HAMILTON, GREAT JOB.

Top notch mediator. Hard to put into a brief comment how comfortable and rewarding of an experience it is working with Lisa to resolve family files. my client was impressed with her skill and empathy - which in turn makes me look even better for recommending her. "win-win-win"

I highly recommend NOT USING Lisa Hamilton especially if you’re a father. She was very unprofessional to say the least. She didn’t care one bit about the children involved or the father. She dragged the whole process out as long as possible just to fill her pockets. I didn’t find out till after that she personally knew other professionals involved through the opposing council and was most likely friends with some as well. There is absolutely no way I’m my opinion would let anyone recommend her you will only regret it.

Having been a family law lawyer for years, I have come across many mediators. I just did a mediation with this lawyer two days ago and she was excellent. While she was professional and knows her law, she was compassionate with my client and very understanding of how overwhelming and stressful the litigation and mediation processes are. The mediation I did with Ms. Hamilton is the first mediation I have ever done that I can describe as going "smoothly". It was not a painful grind for my client and she finished the day feeling validated and heard and very happy with the negotiated outcome.

I am a family lawyer and we retained Lisa for a mediation. Although from the outside it wouldn't seem the issues were that complicated, we hadn't been able to come to a resolution. Lisa's approach to the parties was what they needed to move past their positions and we came up with a resolution that avoided a trial which had been schedule in a couple of months.

I am a family lawyer in BC. We retained Lisa as our Mediator AND Arbitrator to resolve a very high-conflict litigation that had lasted over 5 years (and the marriage was only two!). Using her amazing techniques to guide both parties towards an amicable settlement on issues, we didn't need to proceed to Arbitration. She is very pleasant to work with, doesn't read the riot's act to her clients (that's our job), and was able to get two clients that previously couldn't agree whether the sky was blue or pink reach an amicable resolution in a 12 hour mediation. Thank You Lisa, and this is why you are always our "go-to" mediator in BC. Her litigation experience speaks volumes in how she conducts her mediation process, and I always continue recommending her over and over again.

Lisa Hamilton, Q.C. is an incredible family law mediator. She is smart, insightful, down to earth and practical. I recently used her to mediate one of my family law matters and she assisted the parties in reaching a resolution that was not only fair but left my client beyond happy. Lisa Hamilton was a mediator for a mediation in which I was legal counsel. She was knowledgeable and assisted in managing client expectations and pushed both parties on their legal positions and expectations when necessary. She was polite, respectful and responsive in providing legal analysis when necessary. My client was very satisfied and had nothing but great feedback regarding Lisa as her mediator. All in all a successful mediation which has resolved the litigation and avoided substantial legal costs related to what would be a difficult and very costly trial.

Horrendous mediation experience, she doesn't listen, does not review documents, uses overt manipulation techniques, chooses her side early and is not able to remain neutral. Avoid at all cost.

Absolutely the worst mediator/PC. As a mediator she refused to rewrite a consent order by giving me VERY bad advice. As an unrepresented party this is absolutely unethical. Then took on the role as PC to become extremely bias to the other party. This woman chooses to scold and judge... not problem solve or find solutions. A complete waste of money. I asked for a solution to 3 issues. She refused to address any of them in over 6 months. Creating more conflict than solving. Worst lawyer ever!!!

This comment is based on Lisa's mediation skills and from the perspective of a man going through the biased Canadian Family Law system of which Lisa is a product: Her commitment to truth, integrity, rationality and accountability are deplorable. Her myopic fixation on getting an agreement while exploiting weaknesses in order to avoid arbitration and get the beloved "mediated settlement" which limits her exposure to close examination were disappointing, to say the least. Her blatant disregard and disinterest in lying and breaches of signed legal agreements were disheartening. Her ignorance of the huge sexual biases not only in the "system" but in herself were almost comical, if it weren't so sad. In summary, if you are a woman, chose Lisa, if not I recommend against her. That said, I'm not sure if you will stead any better elsewhere. The one redeeming element of Lisa is that she did not seem to want to drag things out. She did push for settlement, even if unfair.

If you end up having to go to court, this litigator is top notch. I have unfortunately also needed to use many lawyers from her firm and I have been very satisfied with all of them.
