Philip is an incredible lawyer. He is very skilled at what he does and it shows in his results. We were able to get everything that I wanted, only because of his skillful negotiation skills and ability to work with the other side without in**** things. He was extremely kind and communicated with me regularly throughout my entire case. I now have the children primarily with me and I am getting the proper spousal and child support. Thank you Philip!

I had a very difficult case involving my children and many financial issues. Mr Viater was extremely professional throughout and presented my materials very clearly. He was clearly ahead of the other lawyer in his arguments and remembered all the details. Most impressive was seeing him in court. Wow. And he wears nice suits.

DO NOT HIRE Viater! Appeared a successful and confident lawyer before retained. But once retained, always not available for the client and opposing counsel, no matter through email, phone call, or his clerk. Did nothing but delay and destroy the case. Suddenly abandoned clients. Terrible advice which destroyed the case. No formal retain agreement. No monthly invoice; sudden big shocking bill without billing details, FOR DOING NOTHING BUT DESTROY YOUR CASE! BTW, email Tribunal@lstribunal.ca to get his previous complaints; it's just tip of the iceberg.

Thank you for protecting my children. I don’t think any other lawyer could have argued so passionately and persuasively to give them a real voice in court and have a judge listen and accept their wishes. I also want to thank you for showing the court that the false claims of alienation against me were just another way to abuse me and detract from him. I can now live the rest of my life in peace. Mr. Viater is the lawyer to get if he is free. I’m very happy with the services I got. I know why he has so many positive reviews since he’s so good. If I could I would just write a good review every day I realize how lucky I got to have hired him and how my life would have turned out so differently if I went somewhere else. I highly recommend Philip. He was very dependable in my time of need. His memory of my case was so good that he was reminding me of events that even I forgot happened. He is very quick thinking so try to keep up. He is busy and I did sometimes have to wait for him to respond but when I had emergencies he was always there. I thought Lyna also did a phenomenal job helping with my file. These two are truly a great team and she helped fill in when Philip was busy. In terms of billing, I think he billed very fairly. The bills added up because my ex argued everything but I found that I wasn’t charged for many minor tasks or conversations that I expected to be charged for. I think the work product more than justifies the hourly rates. I also really like the way that my case was presented and framed. I felt that Philip really understood and listened to me and was able to argue it eloquently. Overall A+++

Mr. Viater is just a phenomenal lawyer. The way he was able to explain the case to the judge in such a clear and confident way was wonderful. It was the first time I have seen any lawyer be able to articulate a case like this. I think he's honestly worth double. I recommend him to everyone.

Phil is a very passionate, knowledgable, and experienced lawyer. He was able to negotiate a much more favorable separation agreement than the original one that I initially agreed to, and handled everything with accuracy and speed. Although I hope my path will never have to cross with him again, I would recommend him to anyone who requires a divorce attourney.

Philip has been handling my case for a few weeks now including my last motion in court. I was really unhappy with my last lawyer as I felt he didn’t take time to answer my questions and I was just a file. With Philip it is completely different. The minute he got his hands on my case we were able to turn things around and I won the motion and got a much better schedule for our children. He really cares about what is best for the kids and he will fight for you. He is very well respected in Court. He also helped me to negotiate a Much better financial settlement. Due to his strong knowledge of the finances he was able to pick up on things that my previous lawyer didn’t and he worked with the other lawyer to ensure I received a much better result. Unfortunately we couldn’t settle on custody issues but he won the motion. I couldn’t be happier. I recommend this lawyer to anyone.

I’m a lawyer myself who practices civil litigation. As part of my practice I sometimes need to refer clients to lawyers who have expertise in other areas. I refer my clients to Philip Viater who need help with family law. I find Mr. Viater to be a genuinely good lawyer who does really want to help his clients. He is a super nice guy but can definitely be a shark when the time calls for it.

The team of Philip and Daniel are a force not to be reckoned with. I hired Philip for my nasty divorce. I didn’t feel my other lawyer was strong enough. Philip told me that he would have one of his associates help with some of the paperwork. I was hesitant as I wanted Philip to do everything, but I agreed to try it out since Philip confirmed that he reviews everything anyway (and doesn’t even charge extra for it). I have to say that Daniel did an amazing job!!! The paperwork was phenomenal. When Daniel appeared in court he was sharp! But when Philip attended court it was truly a work of art. He was so elegant. He gave me a clear strategy and he was right!!! I recommend anyone at Viater & Perelman Family Law Group! I met all the lawyers there and my experience is very positive. Their fees are not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. They are fair. I did not feel nickeled and dimed. I felt that I was truly taken care of.

I had mainly worked with Lyna. She was excellent. She always offered her opinion to what I would have liked and worked very hard on my case and was available when I needed her. Philip did my mediation with the other lawyer in outside of court and he was a beast! There were times when I had wanted to back down and give in, but he kept in check and got what I deserved. I wasted $40k and 6 months with my first lawyer. I wish I had Lyna and Philip from the start

After a year and a half of dealing with my family law lawyer, I came to realize, it was a waste of time and money as I was getting no where. Mr. Viater was recommended to me by a friend, soon after we met I retained Philip to handle my divorce and custody case. All I can say is, Philip was honest, professional, and his knowledge of family law was exceptional. His ability to remember the details of my case are truly super human. I went through a very difficult separation process with my ex. After 3 years and going to court 3 times, we still didn't have a separation agreement. I knew I needed a new lawyer and I'm very happy that I went with Phil!!!My ex threatened to still take me to trial even though the judge at the trial conference said that our case didn't warrant it. Phil helped us to settle out of court despite my ex's threats. Phil was very knowledgeable and a great advocate to get the best possible separation agreement for me and my kids. I have to say that I am very happy that I hired Philip for my divorce with my wife. This is my honest review. I found Philip very approachable and likeable. After interviewing several lawyers before him, I decided to hire Philip the same day I met him. He had a lineup of clients waiting for him, which I liked because it gave me confidence that he was a good lawyer. He wasn't on call for me all the time but I found him to communicate fairly effectively. He would sometimes respond to my e-mails at late hours, which is something I found to be very good because it showed him to be a hard worker. Sometimes I needed to contact him a couple times because he was busy but it ended up being ok. It was definitely a small sacrifice. He did communicate very well in general. He has an amazing memory and somehow remembers my case when I speak to him on the phone without him even having his notes. His work is top notch. He really takes the time to make sure everything is in order. I am very satisfied.

Philip was a great help to me in dealing with my ex husband. My ex is a very cruel person. He represented himself at first even though he has a lot of money because he thinks he's smarter than everyone. Philip dealt with him expeditiously in court. My ex was put in his place time and time again. Finally my ex hired a lawyer from a big firm thinking it would scare me. Philip then dealt with Mr. Big Shot lawyer who was no match for us. In the end Philip dominated in his court appearances. I got the house and a good amount of spousal support. Thankfully our children are older and they weren't a topic for court. Divorce is tough. Hire Philip to help you out. I am extremely pleased with his services. I also found his fees to be very reasonable. Lastly, I wanted to quickly thank Lyna Perelman, his associate, who worked very hard my file. She has an amazing eye for detail and was instrumental in helping prepare the paperwork and research. This firm is simply the best.

I just found out about this website and felt compelled to post a review about Philip. Last year he helped me out with my divorce. I am a grade 6 teacher and my husband is a high school teacher. My ex was the biggest bully to me but tried to use the fact that he was also a teacher to try to convince the judge that he is a fit parent. Philip worked diligently with me to show my husband's true colours. I proved that he was a bully. I proved that he had an alcohol problem. I proved that he was not able to be an equal parent until he changed his ways. I am so grateful that I was able to prove these things with Philip because I wanted my husband to stop for the sake of our children. After one year he has gotten a lot better and we are finally able to start co-parenting better with each other. But if it wasn't for Philip bringing him down in the first place, my ex would be the same old bully and our children would suffer. I am so thankful.

My divorce case was simple but my spouse and her lawyer were very difficult to deal with. My previous lawyer was incompetent save for when it came time to pay her invoice. I fired her and hired Philip. Philip really cares about his clients. I would send him an email late evening and he responded within minutes no matter how late. At times I felt like I was his only client. I would call him expecting to get his voicemail and he would actually answer. And he always made time to see me. Philip does not hide behind a secretary. He personally takes care of his clients and brings a sense of humanity in an otherwise difficult time. He is level headed and stays calm which only helped my case. Angry lawyers and spouses cost unnecessary legal fees. There were times when Philip knew the case better than I did and he has a sharp memory. With my former lawyer, I was on the path of losing my house. Then I hired Philip and he helped me save my house. Philip is your guy if you need a family lawyer.
