Awful experience! She and her secretary that thinks she is an attorney too, do not work for you although they make sure you pay them. Forgetful of your case, rude & dismissive. It would be better to represent yourself because at least you care about the outcome. Avoid this firm

She lied multiple times to the court. I was help in contempt because of her false statements. She should have her license pulled.

She treats you inconsistently. During the initial consultation, she acts as though she can help you but this changes once you sign her representation agreement. She loses your documents then charges you for the time it takes her to replace them. She becomes confused and angry when she doesn't remember or understand something causing her to lash out and say demeaning things to you, the paying client. Cutting comments and outright insults are her norm. She is intellectually impaired and it becomes the clients fault. She loses monthly payments then hounds you for them and charges interest to your account, although you paid on time. Her willingness to advocate for you runs hot and cold and this is where the relationship ends. You are paying for a service that she doesn't provide and you feel foolish for doing so. That's when you change representation. She tries to keep your own records from you, either because they're lost or to make more money but the fresh start is worth it.

AWFUL. bills you for her forgetting things, you end up as her paralegal and she bills! bills! bills! you for it. it's why she always dragging around a file cabinet on wheels in the courthouses, she's not ready! a prepared lawyer comes in with one binder on your case.

When I found Merril , it was the darkest time in my life. Through her legal advise, I realized my first lawyer knew nothing about family law which threw my life into hell. Due to the consequences of my first lawyer's work, I would say my case became one of the most difficult cases among custody battles. With effective strategies, Merril fought really hard in and outside the court for me. Finally we turned my case around. Besides her professional help, she also helped me to see the whole picture of the situation, make rational decisions. Many times, she told me "why not putting the money into your kid's education, instead of paying me?" How many lawyers out there would tell their client this? Because she cares about her client from the bottom of her heart! My life could not get back in the track without her help.

We were put into a situation where we needed a family lawyer,ASAP. Merill was reccommended to us. Being a local lawyer who herself is a family woman, was a bonus for us! She took the time to speak with us, explain everythng to us and treated us with respect. She showed up for court, defended our position, filed the proper documents and gained our respect eash and everytime we spoke (either in person or on the phone). Her staff and assistants are friendly and knowlegable. I have never heard of a lawyer "dropping" a retainer or offering a monthly payment plan ~ ever. This was a sad case of a little boy who needed help and she got the job done! We could not be happier at the end result.THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!

Ms Chin is a very able and an assertive professional. She make sure she finds conviction in all cases she takes up and then demonstrates that in her all her work product including documentation and court appearances.

She helped me through a very very horrible divorce and custody issue. She handled my case each and every time we attended court, which was numerous time with nothing but pure professionalism. She showed her expertise with divorce and family law so was able to ensure that the final court judgment was on my side. She was always so helpful with any questions or any aspects that was not very clear to me. She always returned my call or email same day without fail and did not charge me for most of this. She was more than just a Lawyer as she also showed she really cared about what I was going through. I rated her even highly because she offered me the most flexible option of paying, she never once contacted me about a past bill but instead allowed me to make payments when I can. Now, I don't think you will find many Lawyers out there willing to be that flexible. If you are looking for an honest, reliable, knowledgable Lawyer, she is defiently the one.

I have nothing but terrible words to say about this lawyer. She was aweful, rude, disrespectful, COMPLETELY unprofessional. So unprofessional that i lost count of the number of times the poor judge rolled his eyes at her. It is sad to see that people like her smell only money and her eyes read $$ signs and could care less for ethics when reality was screaming MOOO to her face. A lawyer lying that bluntly? And she was testifying under oath? Seriously? Shameful!Disappointing!!! What an embarrasment to the people around her!!!!

This woman only cares about money. She would make a phone call and ask for credit card payment even before the itemized bill was received in the mail. She became defensive if you asked her any difficult questions. She creates "more hours" by misplacing important documentation that you have already provided. After her recommendation and being guided step by step in filing a contempt, the judge was angry because there was no just cause for the contempt - something she clearly should have known. She dropped the ball on numerous occasions, and the fact that I could settle the problem with the opposing party in 15 minutes when "she chose not to show up to court with me" certainly tells a lot!! I truly feel she is a disappointment and disgrace to attorneys out there trying to do their best for their clients.

She is highly disorganized and kept asking for the same information repeatedly. VERY forgetful of information we gave her. She was not thorough and did not use much of the information we gave her that would have worked to our benefit. She is no match for an opposing tough attorney and negotiates terms her client, my husband, could not meet. She clearly had no concept of his finances even though they were in front of her nose. If questioned, she is very rude and she is very expensive. A modification cost us over $15,000.00

She is an awful lawyer. I was not impressed with her results, and I told her so to her face. After a 27 year marriage to a man making six figures, she failed to get me any alimony, which is egregious because I was a homemaker who raised our four children. Now I am embroiled in the task of undoing her handiwork. She was aware of my husbands fraud on his financial statements, but she took no steps to ferret out the extent of that that fraud and present it to the court, so that I could get alimony and higher child support. I do not recommend her. I will probably end up suing her for malpractice. She put her own interest before mine in violation of her ethical and fiduciary duties to me. I have already contacted the Board of Bar Overseers. She is that bad.

She was terrible during my divorce. I gave my wife's and my financial information in first meeting. Very organized and well-presented. She called me repeatedly asking me to explain financial accounts, etc. between me and my wife. I'd already explained it, and she'd still have questions. She'd charge me 30 minutes or more for calling me with a 10 minute question. She was extremely unpleasant and I feel that she didn't negotiate well with my wife's lawyer. With her overcharging me and not understanding the simple financial dealings that I explained in our first meeting, I consider her unprofessional and can't recommend her to anyone.
