I worked with Murray over a period of six years. His calm and thoughtful approach was much appreciated. He gave good advice and kept things moving along. Divorce is tough enough, so it's nice to be able to rely on good counsel.

I worked with Murray for 3.5 years (having finished our case December 8, 2017). Although he represented my elderly father, I acted as liaison during this time. I found Murray to be extremely knowledgeable, tenacious, and very kind. He was always especially conscious of my fathers age, and health conditions, and worked very hard to ensure that my father was consulted and understood next steps. Murray consistently responded to our communications, whether by e-mail or phone. He provided us with on-going excellent advice and I appreciate all the work and effort he put into my fathers case. Murray has a sign in his office that says "Honest Lawyer", that totally describes him.

Can only regret couldn't afford Murray for the whole duration of my case and had to downgrade (albeit upon his referral) to dubious results. If you can afford Murray, don't hesitate. Guy is worth the penny.

I first became a client of Murray Lightman in 2008. Murray is an excellent lawyer and a very nice man. He worked hard for me through a very difficult separation and eventual divorce from a very angry abusive husband. This separation was not amicable at all and in fact Murray very accurately predicted that my ex-husband would lose his job due to his anger, once the separation agreement was finally signed. That process took a year. Murray genuinely cared about the safety of me and my children. Murray came to my rescue again in late 2010 when my ex was reported to Children's Aid, by the school principal and a registered psychologist for mental abuse of my younger son. The Office of the Children's Lawyer became involved. This process took 2 years. Since then, Murray has helped my navigate and negotiate through some difficult situations. He has alwaysgiven me sound advice and I would not hesitate to recommend Murray.

Murray handled my separation and eventually my divorce which took over one year to complete. His expert knowledge, quick follow up and follow through built up trust that made a difficult period of time easier. Tanya, his staff member was also outstanding. He told me about Mr. Lightman`s successful record and tough approach when necessary. When I first met Mr. Lightman, I was beginning a divorce where there was a lot of uncertainty. Murray...represented my brother in a very difficult divorce case. He was very knowlegable and helpful. It was a long and complicated case. In the end my brother was able to get his home back after settling with his ex-wife. Murray and his team was very responsive and would help out with any questions we had. Be careful if Murray is opposing counsel on your file. He comes in with his own agenda, making any type of cooperative resolution nearly impossible. He is definitely a non-negotiable lawyer. Save the expense of mediation, because it will likely fail. You will not see eye to eye. I do not recommend wasting your time on any type of collaborative negotiation. You will need to litigate your matters with him, where someone else calls the shot and not him. He is on a power trip.

I was very pleased with Murray. He spent time understanding my specific situation and took my goals into consideration throughout the negotiations. Mr. Lightman recently represented me in a family law trial. This was a very long and complicated trial as at times it went beyond family law. From day one Mr. Lightman conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. Murry Lightman defended a claim against me. He resolved it quickly and efficiently due to his skill and knowledge. He knew the issues as soon as he saw the papers. He communicated well with me promptly replying to phone calls,providing updates and sending me correspondence. He knew how strong to be with the other lawyers. There is a fine line between being too tenacious and just tough enough. The result was better than hoped for. I couldnt have asked for better representation! I did not think I could resolve the case without paying the plaintiff anything. I got great value especially considering the result and I was happy to pay Murray's bill.I have referred several people to Murray for family law issues and each has given me only positive feedback about him.
