Divorce sucks. I tried to represent myself which was a huge mess. I broke down and hired a lawyer who i spent 10,000 with but did nothing but threaten court so I fired him and hired a lawyer a friend referred - Lisa Ellis. What i can say is she gave me good advice. She broke every thing down for me on level that I could make decisions but she didn't tell me what to do. She argued my position passionately even when she told me behind closed doors that we didn't have a strong case. As a result, I got most of what I wanted. The important stuff. She helped me prioritize the most important things. She helped me weigh the cost of proceeding with what I was leaving on the table. I spent a ton but divorce is expensive. You get what you pay for and I'm happy with the outcome and felt like i was on control of my life for the first time in 20 years.

Ellis Legal Group is the reason I have a healthy, functional relationship with my ex-husband. The quality of our separation agreement, as well as the invaluable advice I received along the way, and the excellent mediation referral ELG gave us made possible the foundation we needed to move forward in a peaceful, functional, friendly way. We have managed to stay a family although we are no longer a couple, and the first thing I say when friends comment on that is we could not have done it without the advice we received from ELG. I would refer anyone to this firm in a heartbeat if they seek sound, experienced, ethical, professional advice.

Lisa Ellis and her team Greedy and fraud lawyers group except the receptionists . who takes advantage of your situation . If you see this review don’t go to them save your money, time and energy. Worst experience ever . I went to them in my worst time to seek some guidance through my divorce process she did nothing other than printing heavy invoices. They put me through a lot of stress and trauma . If you see this review please don’t go to this law firm. It was my biggest regret hiring Lisa Ellis as my previous divorce lawyer :(

I initially did a free telephone consult with this lawyer. I was skeptical because what do you get for free these days. But she really gave me her ear and answered my questions. She didn't pressure me to retain her like some others I spoke to. They work on the file as a team so the junior lawyers do a lot of the work at a lower rate so you save money in the long run. Very happy with the service I received. They provide regular updates and communication about what they are doing.

Relatively good subject matter knowledge is all I can credit her for. On the downside she charges more than she quotes, takes longer than she quotes, and makes mistakes which someone in high school shouldn't be making. Highly recommend looking elsewhere in Calgary - there are good lawyers out there (somewhere...)

I used this lawyer after reading the reviews on this site. After my initial meeting with her I felt at eases. she was easy to talk to and i felt like she was listening to my concerns. She gave me a few options and the pros and cons and $ of each.she left it to me to choose. I felt like i was more in control of my case then with my previous lawyer who basically did things then told me about it later. Once we had a plan of attack she did exactly what she said she would and for less $ than she estimated. I was very pleased with her services.

Ms. Ellis' website is very misleading. She states that she is focused on divorcing with dignity and respect. Her website also states that she aims to avoid fueling expensive and contentious litigation, which can further injure already fragile family relationships. In actual fact she is a highly litigious and an extremely aggressive lawyer. So much so that it is impossible to get anything resolved by using her services other than to rack up enormous legal bills. Her approach is underhanded and not straightforward and causes even greater tension than is necessary. I would recommend her if you just want to out and out fight with your ex and do not care about the expense or the destruction of families. Otherwise if you just want to get divorced, move forward and have any money left in the bank then stay well clear of this lawyer.

I found this lawyer on this website and we just finished my file and was very happy with the result! She listened to what I wanted and she got me exactly what I asked for and then some. She was easy to get a hold of (not like my previous lawyer). Good experience and would recommend her to others

i found that she made a lot of promises and did not deliver. Not all that experienced with contested matters and not all that interested in going to Court and will want to settle even if it means settling for less than you are entitled to at law.

Lisa is presently representing me and I find her extremely valuable. Her communication is very good. She knows the law. She is very helpful, friendly and approachable. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is going through a divorce.

I found Mrs. Ellis on this website and i had such a good experience that I wanted to share it. I am thinking about separating and I wanted to get some legal advise before I did anything. I called Mrs.Ellis and she returned my call within 24hours. She spoke to me on the phone and invited me to come in for consultion. I was not sure i was read but so glad that i went. She really listened to what i was saying and didn't try to sell me her services. seh explained how the law works and she gave me options like mediation, collaboration, dispute resolution. i left her office feeling like i had the information i needed to make my decision. i am glad i went to see her before i left my marriage and feel confident that i made the right choice.

Lisa-Marie was very trusting. This feeling is very comforting as you enter the divorce process. She is extremely organized and her communication throughout the entire deal was excellent. I was very happy with her and will continue to recommend her to friends and family.

Lisa was really helpful and friendly in handling my divorce. She took the time to explain everything to me and answered all my questions as often as I asked. She provided me with a variety of options - sometimes even referrals to other lawyers and professionals if she thought I needed them. Compared to other lawyers she was reasonably priced and I was overall very happy with the result.
