Horrible family lawyer, just took my partner's money and never replied to emails or provided legal advice or direction. He actually pawned the file off on a very junior staff member who had no clue what she was doing. Cost us a fortune and we got nowhere fast!

Mr.Carhmichael and his staff have helped me through some very challenging times when it came to dealing with the family matters I have faced. Terrible, just a terrible law firm. They don't give any useful suggestion. Their unprofessionalism will delay your case for years but end up with getting nothing. The ONLY thing they are active to do is to keep sending you bills. Divorce is already hard enough, don't let them make it harder and ruin your life. Again,STAY AWAY.

Horrible firm. They are fantastic at taking your money and then they drop the ball, do a poor job at communicating, waste time and drag matters on much longer than necessary. Do NOT hire this unethical, unprofessional, uncaring firm if you value your family. They only care about money and they lie when they make mistakes which happens on a regular basis.

Shawna Clemence of Carmichael Law represented me in my very hostile family law matter. I was faced with very serious challenges regarding custody/access. Ms. Clemence is a hard working lawyer that is excellent at preparing arguments she represented me in a way that made sense and was straight to the point. She made things very easy to understand, its almost as if she could read my mind, great intuition, and she is ambitious and has a results oriented attitude, she made me feel very confident going into court. The cost can be a bit pricey but she was worth every penny.

I would not recommend Barry in family law cases, he is very slow, overbooked, and uncaring towards any urgency. His staff are very sloppy and do not keep proper records on file, loosing most paperwork they have sent to the other party. You have to ask his staff for updates as they do not call or email you when anything happens, costs you to check in when they should be telling you. Barry makes his own decisions on what he believes you should do, and hinders the clients interests. Overall the firm has a no care attitude.

I was not impressed with Carmichael or his staff. When it came time for court Carmichael promised many of things and and the applicant ended up winning everything. This lasted over 2 years. What a waste of time and money. The staff are unprofessional and not organized. Carmichael has too many clients and won't have the time for your case. He may have been around for a long time, but he won't help. The majority of the reviews written on here are done by the staff that work for Carmichael. Don't be fooled!

Barry Carmichael is an exceptional lawyer. I immediately could tell how confident and incredibly knowledgeable in the area of family law he was. My situation was difficult and extremely emotional but Barry was able to put me at ease my first appointment with his knowledge of cases similar to mine. Barry kept with the facts and evidence in my case and wasted no time which also saved on costs. His billings were fair and reasonable. Barry also believed in my case which meant a great deal to me. I spent almost $200 for a half hour consultation only for him to tell me that I couldn't afford him based on the financial information I provided. Interesting how he has psychic powers telling him whether or not I have wealthy family members that would be funding my court case. Hell, maybe you SHOULD hire him with the odd conclusions he makes. I'm sure he could twist your case in your favour, regardless of the facts on paper.

Contacted Barry for a consultation and he returned my call promptly, scheduled a meeting for the next day, and the apt was on time. He wrote notes as we spoke and gave me his honest opinion about my situation. MOST lawyers would not tell you to fight the goof fight on your own and NOT hire a lawyer and waste money and time!!! He offered to look over my paperwork and asked me to keep him posted as my situation progresses. He also offered up a website that has been helpful so far and offered for me to contact him for any questions or concerns I have. Barry was able to resolve all my outstanding issues in a timely and cost efficient manner. He was able to get costs included in my judgement where two previous attorneys were unable to do so. His knowledge of the law pertaining to my specifics helped to get the costs included. His communication skills with myself and the judge was exceptional. Unlike the issues I had with previous attorneys, Barry made sure to go over each and every document with me to insure they were accurate and corrected any problems before submitting them to the court.
