I once caught Mr. Rifkind discussing a closed case while drinking at a bar where he made unnecessary, rude comments over a glass of beer. He then lied about it to avoid disbarment. Honesty, professionalism and empathy are not part of his vocabulary.

I have used Yigal to draft the legal documents for various business undertakings over the past few years. Although at times he can be difficult to get a hold of, the quality of his work is impeccable and worth the occasional frustration. He always met pre-determined deadlines and his law clerk is readily available to answer any questions or concerns. Mr. Rifkind is the best lawyer I ever had. He is always available to help you and discuss your concerns. Once, he replied to my email late at night. He always answers his phone. He cares about his clients and it is visible in the way he practices. He is very sympathetic and always listens carefully to your problems. However, at the same time he is aggressive when he needs to be. At court, he advocated for me and fought for me. He is a definition of an excellent lawyer. I meet Mr. Rifkind at his office in 2006. At that time, I’ve been to other different lawyers and no one had given me attention them him personally. We’ve worked on three other matters and all of them have been successfully ended on my favour. Mr. Rifkind is a very attentions person and as needed, he has returned all of my email and if it was necessary my calls, sometimes after work hours even if he’s out of town. His commitment from what is the defense plan has not given me any hard time; all that he said was true and also never has given me surprises at end. He and his team is constant remind you to complete our task; taking care of a client’s case like is theirs. The cost of his services is very competitive sometime more than other around, but I have set me mind that the inexpensive may cost more at end. Mr. Rifkind always has been a loyal and always completed the task even if it’s hard for us. He is not just lawyer; his is a friend that helps us through some moments of our lives.

Your best bet is to look somewhere else. Osgoode Law School needs to find better graduates because he's an utter disgrace. Doesn't return calls and emails. Acts rude over the phone, as if you owe him money.

I hired Mr. Rifkind because he offered the "cheapest" price after I discussed my case with other lawyers, i.e. $1,000 cheaper for the "fix price" deal. But he never explained that it means ZERO communication with you (he doesn't return calls, doesn't reply mails even marked as "urgent, emergency situation") and no desire actually to do work that he has been paid for. May be it's good idea to hire him if your case is 100% success guarantee, but as soon as extra movement required IMHO he will be useless. I found that he is not familiarizing himself with the case not being aware about some facts and documents. And separate word about his staff - there were 5 different law clerks in 6 months of our cooperation. They are coming and leaving and nobody can explain you what is the status for your case. I'd spend today extra $1,000 because the damage from his activity was much bigger, but unfortunately it's too late ...

This coward is a lowlife and a yesman. His client bought the building I live in which is on the second floor of a tavern. He wants to evict me even though I've done nothing wrong. Rifkinds client refuses to collect my rent and is now refusing to pay the electric bill. Rifkind since day 1 has been acting like he's my landlord and falsely accuses me of property damage. He and his client will soon pay heavy consequences for their violations of the Residential Tenancies Act. He should be disbarred and banned from practicing law for life.
