There are few family law litigation lawyers in BC as astute, capable and knowledgeable as Mark Perry in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. He did general litigation before specializing in family law - by choice. He is also a divorced parent of three kids, so he understands parenting and divorce. Mark is compassionate: he cares.
He has done many major trials and 100's of major Chambers applications for interim relief.
On the basis of experience, there are few family law litigators practicing today with that experience.
He also has great court room presence and a solid reputation. Judges respond well to Mr. Perry's submissions. Always prepared.
This is an unbeatable combination. My observation and experience of Mark Perry as lawyer is that - he is a solid AAAAA+ rating - always.
Ignore most negative reviews: family law litigants are among the most stressed, and a percentage of them are high conflict so gaslighting and false blame is common. Westside Family Law deserve

Excellent lawyer! Clearly knows his stuff and his work in court is very persuasive. I certainly noticed how much respect the Judge has for Mr. Perry and when we got the decision it was clear that the Judge accepted what Mark wrote in his detailed submission.

I was on the receiving end of this callous lawyer who represents my lying, cheating ex-husband. I had to represent myself as I can’t compete with my ex’s wealth. (Client is a trust fund kid with limitless supply of money yet he can’t see that Mr.Perry greedily takes it). My ex has had 8 lawyers but Mr.Perry is a “yes man” that keeps taking his mother’s money. I explained to them that I need a delay with proceedings as my mother is undergoing chemo treatments and having all the chemo side effects you can imagine (nausea, vomiting, hair loss, extreme weight loss and exhaustion as incontinence.). I also live with my mom. I had enough on my plate to respond to a 200-300 page document but his answer was “we will proceed”. Well Mr Perry, karma has a way of making its way back to vicious and unsympathetic people. May you and your daughters have fruitful lives and that they never meet a monster like my ex husband because what goes around comes around.

Mark is very deceptive. He easily lied to me. He says something and does something else. By telling you that there's always 1% chance for everything he keeps the escape door open for himself and pre-justify any future failures at trial. Despite reading the negativs reviews I still gave him a chance but it's now proven to me that he is an incompetent counsel and a dishonest person. His team members are nasty people. He only cares about himself. He was only responsive for the first week. After that I had to almost beg for a response to my email or for him to answer my call, obviously I was charged for all those emails and calls trying to find him. Lastly, he, behind my back, agreed to the very unfair terms and conditions offered by the opposing counsel!

Mark was very straightforward and efficient on a matter of urgency I will dealing with. He made himself and his staff available to deal with it on short notice and was very clear up front on the fees involved. Very helpful.

Mark and his team were outstanding with my case file. Mark was calm when needed and aggressive when necessary. I always felt that he was one step ahead of opposing counsel and trusted him 100%. It was easy to communicate with him as well as his assistant and junior counsel, and he explained to me our position clearly and concisely in layman's terms. Mark is an excellent family law lawyer. He was always so calm and thoughtful although hyper-focused on putting forward my case. He was so calm and polite that I was a little worried when we appeared in court that he would be too nice! I need not have worried as Mark shredded my ex-husband and exposed his lies. Highly recommended lawyer!

Avoid Mark Perry as your lawyer, even he knows you will lose the case he first get over $20.000,00 from you... he only cares about your money not your case. In court he looks a disaster talking. avoid this lawyer and save your money.

Because of Mark's expertise, my divorce was finalized -- and the settlement was more than I expected. I know Mark through on line search and lawyer referral before I met him. He has an excellent point of view toward the legal system ananlysis. I have been suffer a long time due to not get a fair justice in my family case. When he take my case, he get right into the point of my case. He focuse on the factural basis. I am very happy with the outcome with my case at this moment, except he is very expensive. If you can afford him, I will defintely recommendation him.

He took 20,000 and did little, to say nothing with my case. He is pretty bad at responding e-mails. Whenever I called his assistant to ask when Mark would work on my case again, she neglected to talk to me (not sure why she's there?), she was always transferring the call to Mark and I got billed unscrupulously for trying to find out when he would continue working on my case. The follow up phone calls with Mark used up a huge part of the retainers. The reminders of all he read but "forgot" and I had to remind him, used up another huge portion. He always made me feel my case was not his priority, but cashing my check was. He has good knowledge as a lawyer, but his capacity to mediate is very limited. Even when I tried to terminate my work with him, he started writing useless e-mails that used up the rest of the retainer. He never finished our case he simply made us spend 20,000 and a year and a half. I would not recommend this lawyer to anyone I know.

My case involves custody issues and an interim Master's decision that drastically worsened an already bad situation. I was self-represented and felt overwhelmed and had messed up my case quite badly before I hired Mark. He met with me within days of my first call due to the urgency. Immediately I felt heard and respected, that Mark knew just what to do and how to get the job done. He got the Master's decision suspended pending the Appeal hearing which was a huge relief. Mark is an excellent, compassionate, hard working lawyer. He is honest and good at explaining the law in a way that I understood it in my distressed state. He told me that my case was difficult -which is an understatement - and that I could lose my case at Appeal but that the law and facts were on my side. I was reassured by his detailed knowledge and patient, calm demeanor. Mark has provided high value for my investment in his legal services.
