What a HORRIBLE & COSTLY & FRUSTRATING experience! I wish I never hired her! All Medina was interested in, to charge me as much as possible for: research, instructions to the assistant (ended up paying triple for Medina's time to instruct)! And she charged me for her costly $$ consultations, that I NEVER authorized, she cheated on time of appointments! She was good on creating "THE ILLUSION", that she actually worked on my divorce. Pure GREED and NO INTEREST to settle my divorce, only desire to MAKE MONEY on me! I paid $8,000.00 to her for few moths and nothing was done to settle my case: I didn’t get any legal advice or any advice at all. My ex’s attorney did much more work and came up with the Separation Agreement proposal for $2000 If you hire her, be prepared to pay thousands $$ to this GREEDY lawyer for not following your instructions at all, because she has her own agenda: keep charging you money and dragging the divorce process forever or until your bank account is drained.

Stay clear, or get ready for a ride on the ferris wheel. Your bank account will be flushed on every spin of the wheel. You will be taken the LONG expensive way through everything, so much of the info, NEVER even used. She had a junior with her (was told for my benefit..cheaper)! I was actually paying for BOTH at times.But..she loves to boast about "courtesy discounts". When the junior quite, I was on my own, Medina knew nothing about the numbers end of my file, or about most of the suitcase being wheeled around, of two years of my paperwork,with me paying for the chase(more money for them, when they take care of ALL the leg work..telling me , my ex and his lawyer, not capable)!Two years later, and a BIG CHUNK of change, I am done with her, and still not divorced.ALL the ratings here are the TRUTH!! I could tell you sooooo much more.

Too bad I can't rate her lower than a one on this system. Awful awful awful! You are better off not showing up in Court than hiring her. Let's just say the "a" in her surname should be an "i" when describing her lack of skills and lack of personality. She wants your money and has no interest in advancing anything but her own agenda.

I hired Medina a few years ago to assist me in getting support for my 18 year old son who was going to attend University for a one-year program. The total amount I was looking to get from my ex was approx. $6000. I informed her that I did not want to spend too much as I was only going to collect $6000. She asked for a $2000 retainer and after I retained her, she called me 3x to communicate with me in a one month period. She had not yet even contacted the other side, but informed me that she needed another $2000 retainer to continue. Obviously this does not make sense for a $6000 case. I tried to reason with her, got the normal b.s. about how I was receiving a discount on the fees. I filed for "taxation" which is how you fight a lawyer's fees. Medina and I sat in front of a taxation lawyer and presented our cases. Luckily I won and she was made to pay me some money back. It looks like everyone is having the same problem. Don't let her continue doing this. FILE FOR TAXATION!!!

Huge disappointment. I guess anyone can become a partner in a lawfirm if they have money. Have even lost respect for anyone that practices with her. Do yourself a favor and throw your money away before you give it to this bottomless pit.

This is definitely NOT a good lawyer. I gave her "1" ratings on everything only because the system doesn't allow anything lower...otherwise they'd all be GREAT BIG ZEROS! Bad lawyer unpleasant person, not respected by other lawyers as I have come to know now. Hope this review saves you the grief it cost me thousands before I smartened up and dumped her and her equally awful office. No idea how this one got through law school unless she scared people to do it.

Very ignorant and likely to significantly run up your costs. She spent hours making things worse between my ex and me, so I basically paid her for nothing. She does this power-over thing and tries to be one of the big boys to mask her lack of legal knowledge. Run don't walk away from this one.

I am a single mother and went to her for a child support and visitation order with my daughters father. after zero communication from her office over 2 months after I had stated I wanted everything finalized, I was sent an invoice for almost $400. I immediately fired them and requested my file and was sent a scathing email from her student stating that they had given me a substantial discount and if I didn't provide another $3000 retainer that they would no longer respresent me. tw weeks after I fired them I received another invoice detailing emails that did not happen. Thus charging me for work that didn't happen. I was invoiced another $400 after firing, for continued communication and review of the file between Medina and her student. This has been the worst experience in my life. Avoid this lawyer at all cost! it will leave you poorer and with nothing to show for it.

The only reason Medina Shatz got a good for communication is because they have mastered the art of sending one line emails between us the client, her assistant and herself, racking up the charges for each email. When it comes to billing, we paid $350 for the initial consult followed by almost $16,000 to get a substandard ruling. Snuck into the bill was another charge of $450 for the initial consult. When we inquired about it the charge her reply was we had gotten a significant discount so we should be happy with that. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM

Ms. Shatz has a reputation of "churning files". She likes to create conflict even where none exists and this is what she has done in my case. She is also keen to convince her clients that the only way to win is to take aggressive action against the opposing party even if that means filing inappropriate actions. In our case she filed an inappropriate lien on my ex and I got sued and lost when the judge said it was illegal for me to file such a lien. It cost me over $50,000! I said it was her idea to file this type of lient that I had never heard of before. The judge reminded me that lawyers make suggestions and clients make instructions. She didn't take any accountability for her action. She said she does it all the time and this is the first time the other side pushed back. Avoid Medina Shatz! I can't speak for the rest of her firm.

DO NOT use this lawyer. We were informed that a Family Law Special would cost about $5000. The firm was retained late in the stages so they asked for a retainer of $6000. We paid this only to be informed immediately after the court date that the retainer was gone, an additional $2000 was invoiced, and another $2000 retainer needed. So we are now at $10,000 and have yet to have the order produced. I was actually billed $80 when I phoned to confirm payment of the $6000 retainer!! While the firm does seem to be knowledgeable, they do not want to be aggressive but more content to barter back and forth, thus racking up the billable hours. I would avoid this firm at all costs and trust me, they will be significant if you do retain them!

Dealt with this lawyer and firm. Very poor service for money charged. Ended up fighting with lawyer, firm owner, and my Ex. Do not use this lawyer or this firm. You will be both sorry you did and poorer for it.

Do NOT deal with this lawyer or the firm. First, I was given incorrect information to obtain my business and my retainer. For 1 year of child support (approx $4164 while adult son attending post secondary for 1 year), she went through the $2000 retainer and an additional $1096 in 3 months, and all that had happened was my ex was served. Now, there was a court date set, I was stuck in the system and she wanted an additional $2000 retainer to "do anything further". I fired her, dealt with my exes lawyer on my own and filed for my account to be taxed. Also, several attempts to get the detailed times/costs of my bill were ignored. Mr. Vogel got himself involved and both refused to negotiate or budge on the $3096 + $2000 retainer. They only want to get as much money out of you as possible and once they have your retainer, they will try to keep you in a vulnerable position to get additional retainers.
