I was disappointed with Jane after initially liking her although she does have a good paralegal. The main reasons were I did not feel she pursued my case very vigilantly. Secondarily, she resigned when she gave me ultimatums involving my presence as well as when I declined to stay at a hotel that she recommended (I do not live locally). I found that unacceptable. Lastly, there was a balance left on my account of $3,000 which she retained, knowing I lived out of state and was unlikely to pursue. Billing 30 minutes for a short email is also unreasonable. I don't think her fees were well spent as nothing was accomplished. Also, her communication on status leaves much to be desired.

At our first consultation with Jane, she took a $2,500 deposit, and promised us a refund of the unused fees after she was done. Even after hearing our side of the story, she estimated that the entire process would take no more than three months. It took more than a year.
Throughout the entire process, Jane claimed to be an, experienced, expert in these matters. She claimed to know the behavior of the family court commissioner personally, claimed to understand the process, and claimed to understand what would and would not be enforced by the court. At almost every turn, she was incorrect. I wrote drafts for Jane, and she used them.
We spent a great deal of time and money asking for provisions in the Family Court Commissioner’s stipulation and order that experienced attorney would have know were unattainable. Even after the commissioner made notes indicating this, and directly mentioned it during meetings, Jane continued to pursue these requests – at cost to us.
