Ruth Phelps created a financial and emotional nightmare for our family. DESPITE BEING NOTIFIED THAT MY MOTHER HAD SEVERE COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT AND PROGRESSIVE DEMENTIA RUTH PHELPS TOOK MY MOTHER ON AS A CLIENT, and had my mother change family documents (changes my mother didn't understand). Ruth Phelps' actions required my family to seek (at great expense) a conservatorship for my mother to protect my mother from Ruth Phelps's undue influence. The court granted the conservatorship.
In my opinion, Ruth Phelps showed a severe lack of judgment and a failure to engage in due diligence (such as contacting my mother’s neurologist after being notified of my mother’s condition) prior to engaging in precipitous actions. It was incredibly scary to see my incompetent mother being charged with making decisions the nature of which she didn’t understand at all, and Ruth Phelps could have avoided this nightmare to our family by more responsible behavior on her part.
