Gordon comes across as confident and arrogant. Unfortunately, he does not have the work ethic or intelligence to match. He will take the easy route. The settlement he wrote for me was sloppy and not well thought out. I expressed my concerns at the time and he did not change it. In hindsight, I should have fought harder for myself. But I assumed he knew what he was talking about and trusted him to do a great job. He cost me potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars with his sloppiness and l’aise faire attitude. Worse, he cost me years of emotional and financial abuse in trying to uphold an agreement that had no teeth. He knows this and still looks as if he is the cat that swallowed the canary which I would personally describe as creepy.

I used Gordon to negotiate my Collaborative Separation Agreement. AT every opportunity Gordon acceded to the demands of my partner's lawyer. At times I thought he was sleeping with her (the other lawyer). When I'd complain he say "it's on $XXX". His knowledge of the tax implications of our agreement is poor, and if not that, his ability to communicate the tax implications was poor. His proof reading of the agreement for typos and inconsistencies was just as bad. On top of that, he constantly asks for money, usually without issuing a proper invoice. And when you ask to see one, he acts hurt, like you don't trust him. He also doesn't ascribe to the standard, 30 days to pay either, badgering you to pay on the spot. To me, in hindsight, it's clear that he was more interested in collecting his money than he was in negotiating a lower-cost deal for me. My recommendation is to stay clear of Gordon Kopelow. It would be hard to do worse.

the problem with these ratings is you cannot tell if he was your lawyer or the lawyer for the spouse so very limited usefulness
