This piece of work should be disbarred. He gives lawyers a bad name..like they need any more lol. It was an absolute waste of my hard earned money hiring this crook!! He's all about money and will get as much out of you as he can! Told me that I would get off 100 percent within minutes of speaking with him. Later tells me to plead guilty. WTH?? The man is extremely arrogant, condescending and rude! He threatened to not show up in court if i didn't pay him more money. More than originally quoted. Hired another lawyer for a mere fraction what i paid him and got off on the charges. Avoid this piece of work like the plague!!

i would recommend literally ANY other lawyer, legal aid, your friend who says the can get u out, all would be better options to put your time and money into instead of this piece of work, does nothing for u, is an **** the entire time, crany every meeting, charges money for days he doest work, absolute trash lawyer and even more garbage person, DO NOT hire Tom Singleton

Beware!! Absolutely terrible. Terrible commutation, terrible advice. Once he has your money he doesn’t seem to care about trying to communicate with you. Ended up making a case we were dealing with worst!! Seen a similar review down below. Take it from two actually clients. Don’t waste your time or money!!!

I just went thru a very scarey criminal charge Mr singleton took my case and on and was very open with me about what could happen and made no promises up front .he told me u front what the cost was going to be gave me a payment plan and was understanding when i had trouble coming up with full payments right away. he was quick to respond to ph calls and emails considering his busy scheduale he has done an amazing job for me and has cleared my name he also made sure i only came to court when i needed to he took care of the rest which saved me a great deal of money. i 100 %recomend MR singelton and his firm for any criminal matter you have .

very very good criminal lawyer; Tom represented me in a DUI matter and got the charges tossed; he knew the weaknesses in the prosecution case and exploited them to destroy the prosecution case; this guy knows what he is doing and never stops thinking about your case; the best of the best; would highly recommend this attorney.

real positive experience using this lawyer; knows his trade vey well; at court everyone knew him and listened when he spoke; noticed other lawyers asking him for advice as to how to proceed with their cases; when my case came up, Mr. Singleton got the charges thrown out of court; the prosecutors appeared to be afraid of him because he is considered an expert in criminal law. would recommend this lawyer any time.

Mr. Singleton represented my son, a university student in Halifax, who was charged with sexual assault; Tom took over the case from another lawyer who had given my son bad advice; After Tom took over the case he started working to get the statement thrown out because it had been obtained by the police as a result of police trickery and the incompetent advice my son had received from his previous lawyer. After Tom succeeded in getting the statement thrown out, he went after her credibility;It turned out that this complainant had previously made false statements claiming she was sexually assaulted. Tom then went after her mental health; The records showed a young woman who was a compulsive liar who created stories of abuse to excuse the fact that she did not do her work and lacked responsibility. When we got to trial, Tom used all of this destroy her credibility; the judge threw out the case against my son; we will never forget the excellent work he did on my son's behalf.

BEWARE - Very poor legal support and guidance. It seems Tom Singleton cared more about the fees than that of the clients plea/facts of the case. There were many times that I caught Mr. Singleton embellishing the truth which led to little to no defense being actually submitted during trial. I ended up finding another lawyer (after having to pay Mr. Singleton for basically hurting my case).
Btw - I remember him complaining about all these "fake" reviews out there about him and how he'd have to create positive one's. Take it from a real former client .. the poor reviews are from experience not exaggeration.

A very experienced and articulate lawyer who always get the job done; he is by far the best criminal lawyer in Halifax. He looked after my husband's dui case and got him acquitted after a trial. He is very well known in Nova Scotia for taking on the hard cases and challenging wrongful convictions.

Gave mediocre advice. Could not reach him in an urgent situation, even during office hours. I terminated his representation as soon as I realized his ineffectiveness and represented myself. The only concrete thing he did for me was to obtain the copy of the police report. He was inattentive to details, and didn't add anything that I couldn't figure out myself to my case, and charged far too much for his services. Very unsatisfied. I don't know who gave him decent ratings but I saw no evidence to deserve such charitable reviews

Mr. Singleton recently had a DUI charge thrown out for me despite having five witnesses and an expert on doing extrapolations on the crown's side. He even cross-examined the civilian witness and tricked him into proving he lied about the timeline, thus discrediting his evidence. Excellent lawyer.

Avoid this lawyer period. If he takes on your case and then realizes he can't win, he stops putting any effort in. He will not listen to your suggestions and, quite frankly, gets ticked off if you tell him you want him to cover items you feel are relevant to your defense, only to be told that is his job, not yours. By not listening to my items of concerns, he basically allowed two prosecution witness to lie under oath when on the stand. He barely cross examined any of the prosecution witnesses leaving my defense at a bare minimum. Also, it became vividly apparent to me last minute that money is his driving factor. He would not proceed with the final court matter unless I forked out more cash. And I have yet to see a cost breakdown of his expenses and how he used my retainment money. Bottom line, I DID NOT get what I paid for. Absolute horrible lawyer. Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs.

Great trial lawyer who knows how to get things done in court. Tom Singleton defended me against a false accusation of sexual assault. At trial, he destroyed the complainant's credibility, eventually forcing her to admit that most of her story was fabrication. I would not hesitate to recommend this great trial lawyer.

I paid a couple thousand dollars to fight a traffic ticket I didn't deserve and I was told "I can always knock this ticket down to a 1 point ticket etc. don't worry". The day before the trial he tells me "we can't win, there have witnesses, 3 vs 1." I told him 8 months earlier about the witness statements not matching at all, the cop at the scene didn't write down anything I said and there were several more things that didn't match up to what the complainant said against me. He just dismissed that and said "we can't win." When the trial started, he started writing down questions to ask.... he hadn't put a single minute of work into my case until AFTER the trial started. If it wasn't for me standing up for myself and being clear, defending myself adamantly, I would have been toast. He only asked a few generic questions. So he took my money, lied, didn't lift a finger to help me and at the trial barely said anything. Don't fall for his lies. Get a real lawyer who isn't lazy and a liar.

Great lawyer in court; when he speaks, judges listen. When I was in court, Mr. Singleton raised numerous arguments on my behalf, most of which the judge accepted. Even the prosecutor had to admit that Mr. Singleton was right in the position he advanced on my behalf. Before giving his decision to acquit me of the criminal charge, the judge thanked M.r Singleton for his excellent presentation. I recommend Mr. Singleton highly.

Horrible lawyer. I hired him to represent me on a fairly easy case and this was the worst decision I have made. Money is this man's only care. He will not return phone calls and responds to emails days later. He is extremely stubborn(not in a good way) and very rude. I had called and left messages the whole week before my court date to set up a meeting to discuss the proceedings . I received a response the day before trial saying he doesn't have time to meet and will review things in the morning prior to trial. Trial was at 9:30am. Mr singleton showed up at 9:20am. I confronted him about this to which he responded that I can find other representation if I don't like how he conducts business. my first day of court was a joke as he was incredibly unprepared. I have a feeling the judge sensed this as she stopped trial ahead of the allotted time and rescheduled for a later date. 2 days later I received a bill for an additional $2400 from him. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN!!!!

Probably the best lawyer in Atlantic Canada; He got my brother acquitted on a sexual assault charge after a week long trial. A real bulldog who never gives up on a client. Judges respect him and adopt his reasons as their own. Mr. Singleton is the only lawyer from Nova Scotia whose words get quoted by the Supreme Court of Canada. I would highly recommend him.

Excellent lawyer; Mr. Singleton represented me a very complex case which involved an 8 day trial; The judge tossed out the charges after listening to the evidence; Mr. Singleton's brilliant cross-examination of the complainant destroyed her credibility. In giving his decision the judge referred frequently to Mr. Singleton's cross-examination. I would not hesitate to recommend this great defence lawyer.

Mr. Singleton is the top criminal defence lawyer in Atlantic Canada; He is so good at his job that judges frequently adopt his words in making a decision on a case; he represented me in a very complicated criminal matter and after a trial I was found not guilty. worst lawyer I have ever been represented by,,,,always askin for money without and before any results,,tom singleton was suppose torepresent me on matters in both Halifax and Dartmouth,,,as we spoke in person ,,things were very different later as we had corresponded only by emails as to which mr singleton said my only chance was to be found guilty thus resulting in myself combining both charges resulting in jail time,,,,my position as to his reference was NO and when mr singleton and my self came with difference of opinion how to then proceed I tld him I was goin to seek another council on the Halifax matter and only retain him on Dartmouth matter,,,,as the Dartmouth matter approached and also after I was found not guilty on the Halifax matter,,,mr singleton became very unprofessional telling me via phone conversation that he was not gonna represent me in the datmouth matter without provocation,,,thus leavin myself without representation ,,,,I would not recommend this lawyer to anyone

Mr Singleton was frank and to the point. He pointed out areas that were a waste of time to pursue(costly) and where we should invest our time(my money). I guess the old adage is true. You get what you pay for. What I paid for in legal fees while costly will easily be saved in insurance that didn't go through the roof.

I recently hired Thomas Singleton after comparing his fees with other attorney's fees he was more than fair.From the beginning Mr. Singleton was very confident and knowledgeable. he was able to get one charge dismissed and the other reduced to a misdemeanor. I highly recommend his services.

Mr Singleton represented me in a DUI. He was confident and prepared and gave great advise; such as get enrolled in a drug addiction program right away. I did and this went greatly in my favor. I drove myself home and have been a smarter person since. I was in the military at the time and a conviction would cost me my job.

After two years and 35000.00 in fees, we switched lawyers and had the issue resolved in 6 months while TS was advising us it would be going to trial and an unknown length of time. All the suggestions we had made to TS were ignored by him, but acted on by the subsequent lawyer. Had he been more proactive in handling the case it could have been resolved quickly. The man needs sensitivity training. Money appears to be his only driving factor.

This lawyer is only out for your money. I used him for a family matter and he screwed up the paperwork and was totally unpreprared for the trial when we went to court. In my opinion, I would have been better of to represent myself than pay out the large sum of money I gave him for his inadequate services. STAY AWAY, much better lawyers in the city for way less money.

I used him in my custody battle and found he stuck with 1 issue even though you can see it was not working for him, he did not listen when i reconmended the use of certain people for witness or not for witness over all I thought he could of fought my case a lot better or even harder than he did but he was very good at telling you he wants more money if I HAD IT all over to do again I would not hire him

My girl friend hired this lawyer as stated by another poster he does target service people offering a discount. However he has yet to give a statement of his expenses and just kept asking for more money.The even bigger problem was she came out with less then she went in with.it should have been an easy case in family law.Imo he does not know family law and should be avoided at all cost.

MR Singleton is one of the most expensive lawyers in Halifax $350/hr. He targets the local military community offering them a discount,even with the discount he is more expensive than other lawyers. I went to see MR Singleton because i was going through a divorce. It was a simple matter, I had a separation already written up from my ex wife and the only issues i had was if she was entiltle to my pension and when do i start paying child support. Mr Singleton told menot to sign or pay anything and that these matters take time. Two months later and numerous phone calls from me and from my ex wife's lawyer to see if any progress was made,MR Singleton tol me that my retainer was all used up and that the other party was upset because it was taking so long andthey wanted to take us to court. I then told him that i wouldno longer use his services due to i taught he was banking on them taking me to court to get more money. I could go on and share stories from other people i have met...
