Run dont walk away from this lawyer! He was recommended to me by another lawyer in Barrie. He was rude, ignorant, abrasive, dismissive, did not respond to my e-mails, had zero knowledge of the case, had unauthorized conversations with the other side while not responding to his own client, said he was "caught a weak moment", significantly prejudiced my matter, did not listen to anything I had to say, and was clearly advocating for the other side and not his own client. His behavior was entirely unprofessional. As a woman, avoid at all costs. He is divorced, bitter and male oriented

very short when it comes to answering questions I had. let the other party make false clams without saying anything in my defense,(maybe it wasn't the right time?) ended up not going to trial with this lawyer, and feel I wasted thousands of dollars. not everything was bad but id say most of my experience was negative.

David was recommended by a friend and I am so grateful to have found him. He gets to the point quickly and doesn't run up the bill by chatting. He explains things clearly and works to get the very best arrangement for his client. David had my back, every step of the way.

Run away fast!!! Avoid this narcissistic, dispicable man who will overbill you constantly and not answer your questions , he didn’t reply to 26 of my emails in 5 months. He barely communicates with you and charges you $450 per hour. The firms secretary, Caroline Cunningham sends most emails with so many attachments you don’t see some of them. All titled FYI. Absolutely unprofessional! There was no guidance or counselling and if you don’t take his advice - he threatens to fire you. The absolute abuse of power was also witnessed by my accountant when he accompanied me to a meeting to witness how I was being treated. He will tell you want you to hear to get you as a client then changes. He has had more reports to the law society than most of barrie lawyers and has been found guilty and fined by their governing body. By treating his clients so horribly that dozens have complained -he can no longer become a judge that he so desperately wanted. Looks good on this creep!

Avoid this lawyer. Divorce case; he lost all of my files, I had to re-copy thousands of recorded documents for his office at my expense. Was always slow to respond to the other lawyer. He pushed to settle without the judge, he was suppose to write up the settlement and didn't. I made numerous calls to him without any response. Finally he demanded payment without writing the agreement. My ex's lawyer sent numerous letters, no response from him. In the end I had to hire a new lawyer, the terms that David Winnitoy had written were non existing. My ex never sent any support to my daughters in university. She also never sent any support to my daughter that I had full custody of. This was written up that payments were suppose to be made directly to my daughter. His lack of attention to the final agreement, cost me for years. I suggest that anyone who has been poorly represented by Mr. Winnitoy go directly to the Law Society of Upper Canada and report him. 2 strikes on his record.

This lawyer not only took my case without believing in it but was consistently condescending, disrespectful, bullying, and blamed his failure to achieve any of my goals on the dynamic between my ex-husband and I rather than his ineffectiveness. He was also overly congenial with my ex-husband's lawyer and my ex-husband in full view of everyone. And, rather than being creative in his approach to reaching a settlement, he used Offers to Settle from other clients he had. In addition to this, he billed and billed and billed. When challenged on any of these obviously unprofessional issues, he was both dismissive and rude. After over a year of this, my resources and spirit were depleted as well as my resolve to persist, and I gave up. It has taken me a long time to even revisit the whole experience and be able to share it in this way. Steer clear of this lawyer.

It's my experience that family law is difficult because it is very emotional and often the parties are irrational because of this; often no one comes out feeling as though they have "won". David knows the law and is able to be impartial and ALWAYS reaches for the best interests of the children. In representing my niece's best interests, he was a very powerful agent of justice...served well. I would not hesitate to pay his fee to have him on my team and considerate it an investment gladly made to have such an anchor and guide to a brighter future during tumultuous times.

Approachable, honest, and tenacious lawyer. David Winnitoy is an extremely fair minded lawyer who seeks results that are fair and just for all parties involved. He has represented me as a matrimonial lawyer, and is equally excellent representing his clients in civil suits. I can vouche for that personally. His professionalism is outstanding, as is his sense of integrity. He is especially respectful of women, in my opinion, and is protective of the children in divorce matters, ensuring they are taken care of responsibly. David is a no "BS", confident, hard working, detail oriented, kind of lawyer. He is straight forward, to the point, sticks to the facts and does not waste his client's time or money. I highly recommend him to anyone who is willing to be fair and honest in their pursuit of justice, and legal matters.

Was apprehensive after reading the reviews here so I had to post as I have just come from seeing this lawyer. Although the outcome was not what I had hoped, I accept the facts and will move on from that. He is very straight forward,professional,informative and I felt comfortable talking with him. He is a "facts only" man, didn't beat around the bush, which I appreciate. I wasn't misled to believe my case was something it was not and told me the facts to back his belief. Good luck to all who are seeking legal help. I would recommend Mr. Winnitoy because of his approach. I don't require someone to hold my hand as they say just needed direction. I have had other lawyers in this area that only took my money :-(
