Went to court for reckless by speed (87 in a 55). I was on a deserted bridge late at night with no traffic. Bridge was divided so there was no threat of oncoming traffic. Granted I was speeding, but I feel like Mr. Searcy did little to nothing to work to even get my sentence reduced. A girl went before the judge right before me for 88 in a 55 and she got the same sentence that I did...without a lawyer or taking a driving course. The lawyer made virtually no argument on my behalf regarding the circumstances of the speeding. All he did was ask the judge to reduce the charge. I could have done that myself. I feel like for a $450 lawyer fee I should have seen some benefit and at least got the judge to back off of the reckless driving charge, or at least some sort of argument from him and I got nothing. Now I've been convicted of reckless driving, got a 6 month suspension and a permanent criminal record. I'll pass on Gary Searcy next time and use the fee money to pay my fine.
