This info. can be verified. On Oct 22, 2019 a "complaint" was sent to the Law Society of Manitoba regarding Mr Clay. There were several complaint issues in the submission. On Nov 5, 2019 an additional complaint was sent to the Law Society of Manitoba regarding Mr Clay's legal fees. Manitoba does not make attendance for fee arbitration mandatory - Mr Clay refused to attend (in fee disputes, fees on average are found to be about 25% too high). After investigating, the Law Society advised the client in mid May 2020 that "...the Law Society's Complaints Investigation Committee......directed that charges of professional misconduct be laid...."against Mr Clay. In mid Dec 2020 the client (after having no input from the lSM for 7 months) contacted the LSM. The client was informed that "Mr Clay agreed to retire", and "there will not be a formal discipline hearing or Agreed Statement of Facts". Considering the nature of the complaint, and the evidence, this is not "justice" to the client.

this "lawyer" is where clients should cringe when hearing about his name!!!! demanded 25,000$ for a simple case,took16,000$ of it with very very minimal action on my case for the 22 months that he basically shelfed . excuse was always very busy with other clients and court dates .please !! for your own sanity find a reputable lawyer . I read the negatve reviews about this "lawyer" and the majority were spot on!!! law society will investigate your hypocritical acts as well as ACTING IN BAD FAITH" . looking for way overcharged monies that you have taken from me before I fired you!!

Would not recommend him to nobody. Gives false hope that he can do something for you and charges exorbitant amount for his effortless time. Should of fought my own first offense on DUI. Only in for the money so he can retire rich. RED FLAG..stay away!!!!

I would first like to say that Grant is a nice guy. He is personable and has a good knowledge over a wide spectrum of law. Be sure to not make a mistake , as he has no tolerance for errors and will blame the staff in front of clients to the point of making them cry. He takes on more clients than anyone should because he does not want to turn down business. He is cost conscious while his fees are exorbitant. It is solely his choice to underpay his young unqualified staff, all the while making sure to have repeat visits and phone calls to increase his revenue. He promises unrealistic deadlines without proper project management skills. Therego too many clients with too many unfulfilled promises. One person who wrote here said he missed court appearances - the staff should have had it diarized and reminded him when to go. In general, if you want something done quickly - go somewhere else. If you have time - he is a good lawyer.

Did not keep appts or was very late. Numerous written requests for an update ignored. Phone calls ignored. Says will call back, but does not call. Previous info provided not documented and dismissed as not relevant, then repeated at subsequent mtg as important to the case. Large invoices for very little legal work IMO. Not reliable, states timelines for completion, months later, still waiting. Not what I expected from a seasoned lawyer at all.

I felt like he was asking for information to my case which had no relevance. Took two months off during my case which caused me issues. He asked me to come and see him several times asking for different information each time. Adding time to my overall bill. Was surprised with my final bill being over 1000 over my estimated cost. Unorganized. Seemed like he wasn't to knowledgeable about family law. Was told to stop paying child support by him in May, then in September, he asked my why i stopped.. and hes the one who told me to stop! Case opened in May, and finally ended in November. In reality, all the case was, was a letter to stop paying child support (child was 18 and living with me) When the mother finally got served, she agreed.. and paper work was submitted to courts. Time frame was ridiculous, Costs were ridiculous. I would of went with a different lawyer half way through, but I provided a healthy retainer for his "services".

Clay is pleasant to deal with and extremely knowledgeable but he runs a very unorganized business. He was ok when I met with him but the whole process took way longer than it should have and turned out to be way too expensive for the quality of service he gave me. Sometimes he would ask questions for information that had already been given to him, he would have his notes all a mess and he would never return my phone calls. I thought his secretary was very kind and helpful and I think his support staff is what saves him but in retrospect I should have just spent the extra money on a better lawyer.

Grant clay worked very hard in my case, a small case court. He spent 3/4's of a day with me. Was very efficient and on time .He is a very nice person ,and spends many extra hr's at his office and probably take's too much work.His secretary was also very polite. He doesn't deserve these bad comments from these few people. I would definitely recommend him as a attorney. Incidentally, we won all three cases.

This guy missed three court appearances and I had a warrant taken out for my arrest becasue of this. I called many times and never had them returned no matter how many messages I left. He claimed he didnt realize he missed the appearances, which is hilarious considering I was trying to get a hold of him almost daily and being ignored. AVOID THIS GUY at all costs. He is in the wrong line of work, and hires incompetent administrative staff as well. Check his records as well, he has lost cases against former clients of his. I assure you whoever gave him a good rating was most likely himself writing the review

Was not knowledgeable regarding Comfree sales. Spoke to me like an angry father. Did not have papers in order even though a returned email to me by him said he did. Found someone else file in mine. Very unorganized, secretary and him do not communicate well. His excuse for being confused regarding my sale, was he was very busy and not getting much sleep. His secretary spoke to me and my Banker rudely. After she said Grant did not inform her that he had all the information. His office was a kitchen that was filled with files lying about, dishes and dogs. We had to call numerous times and go to the office to get them to finish our paper work. Would not recommend him to my worse enemy.

Mr. Grant Clay represented me twice and I won both cases, I found Grant to be very through and pay attention to details, He always returned my calls, I found him to be professional, fair and wise.

In the late 90's this lawyer stole a 16 year old's inheritence along with the boys aunt. The boy was thrown out onto the street by his family. The boy tried getting it back but grant refused to assist, the boy's lawyer told him that it was like someone had put a wall around grant and the aunt named georgia estelle truscott. Takes too long to finalize anything. Doesn't return phone calls, keeps clients waiting, Very expensive. Office seems unorganized, can't find papers.
