We hired Jon to help with a custody issue. He did the job, we paid him and that was that. BUT part of the retainer was to handle two other, related, issues pertaining to the case. The same lawyer who handled the custody issues had to deal with those. He didn't. He fell down utterly--he wrote a couple of letters without doing any fact-checking, stopped communicating, stopped cooperating, refused to return calls, refused to produce documents. He is the most unprofessional lawyer I have ever encountered. Lazy and arrogant. Do not hire this lawyer.

I really wish I would have looked here first, I knew something was wrong with him. He's just not in to his job, doesn't care. I feel like I'm just another $$ sign. Hes not following through with anything he has said he could do, he isn't trying to help me in any way, just make me do the easiest things. I would NEVER recommend this lawyer, hoping to find someone new or represent myself. I do not want him representing me, he doesn't seem to be very professional he never even called me after my court date to tell me what had happened. He was representing me. He seems very lazy in his work.

Jon is an excellent lawyer with an excellent team. He is humble in his presentation and listens extremely well and doesn't forget a thing. In court he is professional and courteous especially to opposing counsel. He sticks to the facts and presents them accurately and meticulously so the judge can make an informed decision free from unnecessary emotions or doubts. Jon and his firm are a fine tuned machine that processes legal disputes through the court system and gets a resolution according to the law. I was very fortunate to find Jon and his firm and am grateful for the help he got my children and family. Upon closure I am confident no one could have done a better job for my children than Jon and his assistant Jadine. Humble, sincere, kind, thorough and very knowledgable. There is no wheel to reinvent just a cumbersome process that you must go through and Jon navigates that process flawlessly. Seems like he was bogged down with to many cases to care about mine. Being a legal aid client, he really didn't put up much of a fight for me and my children. I am in the process of looking for a new lawyer now.

Oh dear. Should have looked here first. Communication from the office is HORRIBLE, whether from Mr. Stewart or his assistant. Family events and vacations seemed to be more important than the client. I got an OK settlement, but it took a year and a half to get there, and legal fees cost a considerable chunk of it. Also, some of the settlement details were intangible, like "half" of a TFSA that had an unknown value, and the date of this half was never clarified (at the end or the relationship? At the end of the divorce process?). I'm still cleaning up the details. My ex went through three despicable lawyers, and Mr. Stewart just bumbled along with whatever the new legal flavour suggested. He seemed to find purpose when I cried, but other than that seemed unaffected by the urgency of my situation. I would not recommend him.

Well, I originally posted on this site August/12 nothing improved with Jon or his assistant so I had him fired and switched lawyers in May/ 13 by July/13 my case had been settled. I had paid Jon over $11K, wasted over two years and had no closure to the case. I paid my last bill with him in May/13 the cheque cleared my bank account on May 21/13 and guess what,..... I still haven't received an acknowledgment thanking me for my business or even a final receipt. Do not use Jon or SLL for your business, even the partners in the company do not help you when you bring the matter to their attention. Mr. Leigh even wanted to charge me $1000 to look at the file!!!

I am extremely frustrated in dealing with Jon. There is absolutely no communication, he says that he does not receive emails, you constantly have to re-send emails to him and his assistant Jadine. He has even lied about some of the things he said he has done. I have no confidence in this lawyer and feel that I have to stay one step ahead of him all the time.

In consultation I felt very relaxed and comfortable with Jon. He said some things that made alot of sence to me. He seemed to know what he was talking about. We shall see. I will write another review when this is over.

He didn't care and had no explanation When he lost. I was unprepared for results and wondered if Jon forgot to show up for the court. I was told it was not necessary for me to go and that was a big mistake.

i managed to keep my farm, but as i was not able to stand trial due to mental stress and depression, inability to think straight. the x got everything plus 140000 and half of my pension, i am currently on long term disab. i lost everything, the x ignored three supremem court judges and took every thing with crane trucks and nothing was done to him through the courts. as i was unfit to stand trial Jon only bargained three items, i kept asking for my lists, i never got it and i lost terribly. i didn'[t even know we were bargaining until half way through because my mind was on vacation, all i remember was asking for my lists. Jon should have listed everthing and demanded i get it or no deal. i was absolutely wiped out, terrorized for a year and a half by the x and his friend, no punitive action was done. i felt if my brain was straight i could have done a hell of a better job than jon and saved 15000. dollars. do not get him for divorce court, hell he couldn't even get my stolen
