The practice in family law by this firm has practically tanked. They are now working in small claims court to collect legal fees for other badly functioning lawyers.

Wow is all I can say. After interviewing several lawyers I decided to retain the Baker and Baker law firm after my first meeting with Donald Baker. His firm seemed very professional and very well-kept and he seemed extremely knowledgeable. On the phone Donald told me pretty much everything I needed to hear and how my case is nothing more than an accounts issue and would be able to be resolved relatively easily. He assigned my case to one of his lawyers that works at his firm “Lisa” did an absolutely terrible job with enforcing the information that Donald had told me. Mr. Baker told me how I should be able to receive compensation for work that I put into the matrimonial home and other costs and two weeks after retaining the Baker and Baker law firm Lisa finally contacted me at for the first time and talking to opposing counsel and from the get go She seem to be representing opposing counsel more than me so I highly recommend staying clear of the money hungry Baker and Baker law

Donald Baker is very unprofessional lawyer and lives up to reputation of a typical slimy lawyer. Doesn't return calls and dosen't understand family law.

Terrible lawyer that does not do much at all other that take your money. There are plenty of good laywers in Toronto, Donald Baker is not one of them. Stay away.

I used Baker a few years back. One of the worst choices I ever made. He would not return calls, couldn't remember appointments, and did a poor job of advising me of my options. If I could zeros, I would. He made a simple divorce very complicated. I would not recommend him to anyone.

During a particularly difficult time in my marriage I began looking for a divorce lawyer. I reached out to a few divorce lawyers...and after contacting Baker and Baker for a consultation Don Baker personally got back to me right away. Don listened to my story and outlined my options based on his extensive background. He walked me through the process from start to finish and made me feel like I wasn't alone and that he and his team would be there for me step by step. I would highly recommend Don Baker and his team...to my family and friends. He is exceptional, caring and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much Don.

I would give all 7s if I could. I decided not to screw around. I hired Don Baker to come into a fractious situation and come out of it with my financial wellbeing intact. Don Baker ACTIVELY assisted me in that objective. And it was a big win. And yes his fees were substantial. And compared to the results a very good bargain.

Don Baker was an amazing help for me through my entire divorce process. I found him to be incredibly knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, and I always felt that he was doing everything in his power to get me the best possible settlement. I was very happy with the final outcome. I also found his partner and support staff to be very professional and just as easy to communicate with. Divorce is a messy and stressful process and Don and his staff worked hard and made things as straight forward as possible in a very complex situation. I would easily recommend Don's services to anyone heading into a divorce situation or any other family law matter. He is a top shelf Lawyer.

Getting a divorce was scary and emotional. Baker & Baker took the time to listen to me and get to know my concerns. After our first meeting I felt better and new I had a great team to get me through this challenging time. They focused on mediation and it never had to go to court. They saved me a lot of money!

If I only read those reviews before I came to the office of “Baker & Baker”... I only wanted to get a second opinion. I had an offer on a table to settle for $130K. Divorce was rough, she robbed me of a lot, among other things. So, I thought it was low. Donald Baker promised at list $400K. and I have this on tape. This was the first and the last time that I've seen him. And now, 8 month later, not only he made me lose my case, but I have a court order to pay for her defense and he has the audacity to charge me $30K. This man should be disbarred. He has criminal disregard for his clients lives. He destroyed any possibility for my retirement. His staff is inexperienced, unfriendly and criminally irresponsible when it comes to clients money. I am writing to upper Canada low society, but I am afraid, one hand washes the other and I don't wan t to spent the rest of my life in courts. What a horrible experience.

Stay Away from this Firm. Focus is on selling you collecting huge retainers and not following trough. Does not even have the courtesy after taking over $5000.00 to answer a question that they had made an error on. They wanted another retainer to answer questions that were not related to legal advise. Once they relaize you out of money they stop working with you there happy to see you go. Not a nice man. I feel very sorry for him.

Numerous serious errors in an Abitration completed by Baker. Baker had to be removed and replaced by a new arbitrator.
Stay a million miles away from this law firm!

Mr.Baker is beyond reachable, fees are way too high and less productivity, he pass your work to junior lawyer with less experience. Staff are not polite on phone.

It is very difficult to get a reply from Donald Baker, his tone and the manner he deal with client are not pleasant . Staff are not properly trained to deal with client on the phone in professional way, very rude.

He insists that you pay a large retainer up front, and that you top it up frequently. Watch out: your bills will mount very quickly, and Baker invoices twice a month. He passes you off to a junior lawyer with little experience. Communication with Baker himself is non-existent. Big fees with minimal results.

I called 12 divorce lawyers, interviewed 3, and retained Don Baker. He listened to me, seemed knowledgeable and efficient, a little pricey. It seemed he was very willing to advise me, but allow me to be in control when I wanted it. Note that I only retained him in case I needed him and only had one meeting, some emails, and phone calls. I did not use all my retainer, and he returned the rest. So I have not used him much, but I would use him if I had to go to court etc. Way better than the other two I interviewed (one was too relaxed about details, the other just wanted me to give up right away and agree to the worst case scenario)
