Melanie did excellent work for me. After taking over from a previous lawyer who did nothing for a lot of money she took over and battled very hard for me. She got me back on my feet and gave me a final conclusion to everything in 18 months very pleased. First time I felt some compassion after my first incredibly unfair judgement.

Really nice. I was referred to her by a friend. She talked to me 2 times for free and helped me fix my child custody issues with ex. She did not have to be this nice because Other lawyers I called were not. You can tell she is a good person and likes to help people. I highly recommend her. If I have to retain a lawyer, it will be melanie.

Would NOT recommend this sad excuse of a lawyer. She is all about the making money and could care less about the client that isn't padding her pockets. She charges out the secretarial and admin assistant tasks at a lawyer's hourly rates. Run, run as fast as you can!

My ex blindsided me with a divorce. He took all our financial information out of the house, transferred all our money into his own account, then low balled me an offer, all while attempting to ruin my name and relationships with our family and friends. It was completely devastating. Melanie was the best thing to happen to me at that time...and I’m sure my ex husbands worst nightmare. She was patient and kind, and my rock during this terrible time. A pit bull in court, she advocated for me and the kids...even keeping my spousal support the same after my ex took a lower paying job. She was ALWAYS fair and ethical in her dealings, and got me a great deal. My kids and I are set for life because of this outstanding lawyer. Worth every penny and more!!

Having had a very poor quality lawyer cost me initial custody of my children I had to go out and find the best. I found Melanie. She is an ethical lawyer who is not trying to drag matters out in order to make more more money. She is personable, solution focused, and very much about the best interests of her clients and the children involved in custody matters. Melanie is very knowledgeable and has a calming effect in the often high conflict atmosphere of Court. Its clear that some of the negative reviews on this site are from bitter exes who happened to lose their cases against this awesome woman. I cannot recommend Melanie highly enough. I am forever grateful that she got me shared parenting and a favourable outcome in Court.

My divorce cost me time and money because I married the wrong person and stayed too long. Divorce is torture. Worse than the marriage at times. Melanie got me through it. She is very human, honest, smart and fair. She is a high functioning lawyer who can see several steps ahead and now I have a new lease on life and I say thank you Melanie. Some of my friends use her too and feel the same way I do. She is the go to lawyer to try and retain to help you if you care about your kids and your life.. She won't work with you if you don't do what is best for your kids. I say thanks again! Really a lot! Thanks!

Melanie cost me a small fortune and did nothing other than make the whole situation worse off than it was, she totally caved in court and let the other junior lawyer walk all over her and in the process screwing my life over. Now I have to try and find another lawyer to fight to protect what I have worked so hard to achieve. I cannot recommend Melanie to anyone that I care about at all.

Melanie is truly doing what she was born to do. She is not only brilliant, but her mind works at a blistering rate. When I was seeking a lawyer, I interviewed 7 (expensive but worth it). The one question I asked every lawyer I talked to was "can you provide me with a plan?" to which 6 replies were some version of "If you want, I can do it." I did not need to ask Melanie, in the first 20 minutes of talking to her, she had given me a precise short term plan, and more information than all 6 other lawyers combined!! Her communication is crystal clear and can be terse, so I understand that she will rub some people the wrong way... but would you rather your lawyer cut you off at the pass when you are going down the wrong path, or would you rather hear that from a judge when you are in court?? I saw her argue my case. SHE WAS AMAZING! Her estimation of everything that would happen was exactly what did happen!! Thank you Melanie. Thank you for advocating for me. Thank you for being you.

If you want a lawyer who is tenacious, knowledgeable and smart hire Mel.She did a very difficult divorce for me with dissipation of funds and a rookie lawyer that was full of greed.Melanie chewed her up and spit her out every chance she got so it did not end up costing me thousands of more dollars.Great job Mel

I have had Melanie as my lawyer for two years thus far for a never ending divorce. Although it has been an extremely lengthy case, due to the other side, she has stuck with it with full fight. She is not only a great lawyer, she feels for you. She will work at all hours of the day to help you fight whatever comes your way. This lawyer shows empathy, cares, is devoted, and will fight to the bitter end. I would recommend her to any one. Kudos to you Melanie for being an incredible lawyer.

This is who you want on your side if you are going through a divorce. I have been so pleased with Melanie that I would recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent divorce lawyer. She works around the clock, is always available and responds quickly if you call or e-mail her. She is always 10 steps ahead of the game and can see around corners that you didn't even know existed. She has a great reputation among other lawyers and judges and this bodes very well for her in court. I have been very pleased with the results thus far in my divorce. Competent and hardworking. My friend had her as his lawyer and she won his case. That friend referred me to her and she won my case too. She is straight forward and honest. I would highly recommend her and I have to other people. I am really happy with the result.

I wish there were a "Great" rating available here because Melanie deserves it. Extremely smart and hard working, Melanie won a very difficult case for us. She was always grounded and fact-based and considerate of our costs by being extremely efficient. She also has a heart and cares about her clients' families. She doesn't get pulled into drama or game-playing which we appreciated. We would recommend Melanie to anyone.

Bad family lawyer. Does not read your file, advocate for you, her client, or show any interest after the initial consult. If you have a divorce case that is simply send a few letters, pay the 10k -20k fees and file the papers Bowbell is the same as the rest. If not save yourself NOW. go somewhere else!!! She did not lose my case just charged me repeatedly for repeating the info she had in the file until i found better.

Had Melanie as a lawyer over a year and she did nothing for me. Was unresponsive to my calls and emails. Found it very frustrating working with her. Hired a new lawyer who kicked my divorce into high gear and will be settled in a matter of three months total!

I would highly recommend Melanie Bowbell for a family law laywer. I had spoke with several different lawyers prior to retaining Melanie, none of them made me feel as at ease as Melanie did. Her kindness and practicality made me feel confident that she was the right choice. She was very honest throughout the process and always kept me informed. She handled my case with complete competence and professionalism. Leading up to cross examinations she was always available by telephone or email to answer any questions that I had. She was able to settle and prepare my order for child support and custody without having to go to court. I was so pleased that she was able to resolve this in a timely manner. I will continue to recommend Melanie to everyone that is looking for a good lawyer. And, she has a great sense of humor which helped alot!
