I waited for my kids to be grown adults until commenting. I wanted them safe from his wrath!!! Sadly John Cate is still allowed to practice hurting many families and children. He is not professional and just looking to invoice the next victim. I have never been introduced to a more non professional individual. My three kids begged me to never have to be put in front of this man of a nightmare. Two of of my kids went on to write the courts of their horror of an experience wth this individual after they turned 18. They received no response. No surprise from my experience with the courts. My third child couldn’t relive him. Go away John Cate and get yourself some help...Thankful to say we survived the hellish experience and god bless anyone that crosses his path.

His integrity is a minus 10. Should be disbarred from practicing law. One of the most incompetent and crooked attorneys in Orange County - has ruined many lives with his outrageous actions.

The Family Law and Dependency courts are run by corrupt third party appointees to represent the best interests of the child. As a court watcher I have seen John Cate suck up to a safe, fit, loving parent in the courtroom. The case contained medical, Police and therapeutic evidence, overwhelming evidence, of child abuse by the other party. As soon as check is signed by the safe parent, hoping for a true representative of her child, Mr. Cate threw that child under the bus. How? By suppressing, hiding, and lying about the abuse to a Superior Court Judge. He presents a danger to the children of California.

Nightmare experience. Mr. Cate was unprofessional and unethical. He didn't care at all about my children or their futures... just which parent could pay him the most money. Also, a very angry individual. Would fly into a rage at the drop of a hat.

It is a shame how business transactions superceed child safety. This person is used as minor's councel. He has lied on several occassions and due to his incompetence I missed my own child's hearing. I agree with the earlier post, he is an angry person, but the Superior Court of Orange County has the instituational good Old Boy's Club in place so that does not matter to the judge who assigned him. This man represented the victim of the Seal Beach Massecre, now the woman along with seven others are dead. Furthermore, he has a thing against women. He told me during our consult that he is "jaded by women". He had no problem telling me this to my face even though my son's dad is a dead beet and an abuser. I had a very bad feeling about him and I wasn't wrong. Don't trust this guy with your child's life. Do your homework and speak out againt this kind of corruption. He was assigned as minor's councel yet he has never contacted me, but instantly became buddies with my son's dead beet father.

John Cate is a very untruthful individual. Recently found guilty of perjury involving children. I find him unfit to be allowed to work with any children. Appears to be a very angry individual.
