I hired Mara Shaughnessy to represent me in a divorce. She was very knowledgeable and properly advised me. I felt like she really listened to me. I took my case entirely to trial because my spouse would not settle. She got me more than I expected. I would recommend her to anyone that finds themselves in the unfortunate position of getting a divorce.

My family used Ms. Shaughnessy for an errored foreclosure filing. She missed the deadline that we had to respond to a court filing. She was not prompt to respond to our call and emails. Her staff was rude. We paid her $1500 fee and in the end my family had to resolved the matter ourselves. I would not recommend her to anyone.

I hired Ms. Shaughnessy because she is a lawyer that truly listens. I was very frustrated after my recent divorce as my prior lawyer never returned phone calls or knew anything about my case. Ms. Shaughnessy was very personable and I always felt like she understood my individual case and was very attentive. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great family law attorney.

Mara Shaughnessy represented to the Orange County Probate Court that we (beneficiaries of deceased) were "unresponsive" to a letter that she admitted to never having actually sent to us. We found that very disturbing.
The court returned Mara's probate filings twice due to numerous inaccuracies. Mara was unresponsive to the Court's first letter requesting corrections until we notified her. We had to locate and file a missing receipt to the court for her ourselves, after waiting over 6 weeks just to get things moving again. She claimed that the court never mailed the observations to her, though it was promptly posted on the county website. She failed to monitor the case online as many other lawyers do. She took 9 months to post the notice to creditors, longer to file the death certificate. There were dozens of errors in her first two filings to the county court.We requested That Mara issue a refund to the estate, however Mara insisted that this is "Professional" performance.

Mrs. Shaughnessy was my attorney for a landlord tenant issue. We were able to get our tenant out and recovered our legal fees and back rent. Satisfied client.
