I will be filing with the Law Society as he was completely incompetent. I hope others will as well especially those complaining of the same experience. Fred Lowther was a complete waste of time and money doing things that weren't even related to what he was hired to do. He didn't consider the needs and best interests of me or my children. Missed deadlines, focused on details that were completely irrelevant, did not listen to me, over billed me he rambled for hours incessantly and billed me for it, about previous case law and his personal issues without regard for what needed to be done.
He did nothing for my cases, in fact, he has caused major trauma and ongoing family law issues that could have been resolved quickly had he followed my instructions. He wrote long winded irrelevant emails to me, opposing counsel, and my ex, and billed me for it, without regard for the cost. PLEASE avoid at all costs for you and your family!

Fred fights for you in Court. He will stand up, object & interject. He is fastidious which takes time and does cost but you get what you pay for. His mind is quick & examines all points. If it is a correct and proper Order you seek, Fred is your man! Nothing slips by him because he's been at it almost 4 decades. Doing it right.

Experienced and truly knowledgeable. Fred cares about his clients and goes above and beyond at every step. And most importantly he wins. he walked me through the court process and laid out my options very clearly. He advocated vigorously throughout my case and kept the other side honest the whole way through. The staff are lovely and I would definitely recommend him

Fred is a waste of your precious time and money. He will put you on the back burner and eat your retainer. I found that he didn’t really listen to me and what I wanted. He kept on talking and talking and had zero results. He wrote emails to the opposing party but there was no follow up. In the 7 months I dealt with him, I didn’t even meet with the other party once which he suggested. He had no sense of urgency and therefore no respect for me as his client. When you call him out, he will behave in a condescending manner and blame everyone else instead of being a professional. I had to keep repeating my case to him and he is unorganized. I felt he did not care at all about my case and just wanted to get paid. He fit the typical lawyer stereotype. At the end I decided to go elsewhere because I did not trust him at all.

Fred Lowther is a solid advocate. He has great knowledge, which he shares. He talks to me, not at me, and his advice on issues and family matters is thoughtful, insightful and relevant. He tells me what I need to know, and it's of benefit to me. He cares for me and fights for me. His team is friendly, reliable and trustworthy. Mr Lowther provides strong representation that I want in my corner.

Fred Lowther is a total waste of time and money. There is no circumstance where you should ever consider hiring this individual. He will do NOTHING for your case, and continue to bill you while he waits for self-resolution of your case. His trick is to call you into his office, so he can begin to go on about unrelated case law just so he can hand you a bill at the end of his jabbering. Id rather eat the money then hand it to him again. If you want to loose money, and your case, look no further!

This is a very bad choice, he really likes to talk a lot, which is useless, and nothing can help with your case. He enjoins to write letters to the opposing party' counsel, but he is not good at dealing with applications.

This firm only wants your money - that's it. And to talk your ear off. Seriously - you will have a difficult time communicating as they just like to talk, not listen. I'm sure that they've had some "wins" in the past, but it's not worth it to go through the process with them - there are other family lawyers out there that are much easier to deal with and will take less time to resolve your situation, and in a much friendlier manner.

Stay far, far away from Lowther. I cannot believe these other reviews. By far, Lowther is absolutely the worst lawyer I have ever retained. Not only was he a complete oaf, he missed deadline after deadline and retained little to no knowledge about my matter after he had been sitting on my file for months. I would file a complaint but I have enough problems already. He may have a asberger's because he focuses on details that are completely irrelevant: why isn't a signature legible on a document from 1985, for example. I fired him and retained a new lawyer who did 10 times the work in 1/10th of the time for the same amount of money. Be warned: I had a terrible experience with this individual; don't go anywhere near Fred Lowtherl he'll only waste your time and your money.

Fred is probably the best divorce lawyer in Vancouver. He is very fair with his fees, and is an extremely efficient and honest man. The negative reviews below are suspicious, I have a feeling some other lawyers in town are trying to sabotage him because he's so good.

Mr. Lowther is a dedicated lawyer who works hard for his clients and takes pride in his practice. Mr. Lowther takes the time to listen to his clients and keeps them updated on the day to day communications regarding their file. Mr. Lowther and his staff make their clients feel well taken care of and are always there to help and answer questions when needed. If you are looking for a hard working, dedicated, honest and knowledgable lawyer who will fight hard for you, then I highly recommend Mr. Lowther.

Fred Lowther is extremely proficient. He is an honest lawyer and informs you of all the possible incomes in your case. My case was very difficult. I had over 8 court orders made and 2 previous lawyers by the time I met Fred. I saw Fred in court and was amazed with his style and knowledge in the courtroom. Fred was fighting for his client and I witnessed this and sought him out. I struggled in the court system for years until Fred took over. Fred took my case seriously and handled matters quickly and directly. The staff are helpful and make you feel at ease, the entire office works as a part of your team. I would highly recommend Mr. Lowther He gets things done. He is very experienced and up to date with current Family Law. I would have paid $1000.00 an hour for his services. He saved my children and I and looked out for the children's best interest. He is a hero in my Family's eyes. Definitely a Hero :)

I do not recommend Fred Lowther. He handled my divorce and I found him to be pompous, arrogant, and a wind bag. Far too often he rambled on incessantly about previous case law in an effort to sound knowledgeable. In my opinion he wasted far too much valuable and expensive time doing so. Often I wanted to yell at him "shut up about the case law and focus on my matter". I also strongly dislike his billing practices and felt he constantly over-billed me. My experience with him left me feeling like he ripped me off. I do NOT recommend Fred Lowther.

I retained the services of Fred Lowther on the recommendation of a friend. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and detailed in dealing with my circumstance. Mr. Lowther was forthright in his comments to me, telling me what I needed to know, not just what he might have thought I wanted to hear. I feel strongly that he had my best interests at heart and was always truthful with me. I was very satisfied with the outcome. I would HIGHLY recommend Mr. Lowther to anyone seeking a competent and experienced divorce lawyer.

Do not hire this firm. I would strongly recommend that you do not work with this law firm. They raised the retainer after collecting it and basically held my divorce for ransom. I specifically discussed with the office staff that I wanted to work with someone who would be emphathic as I was going through a painful divorce and was mislead by them and then treated quite badly by Mr. Lowther. He was extremely rude, insulted me, wouldn't allow me to ask questions, and even threatened to stop working on my case, which was only a desk divorce involving no assets or childen and should be charged at a flat rate by most law firms. Check his ratings... I wish I had before making the mistake of hiring him.I plan to lodge a complaint with the Law Board as well. Best wishes in finding someone to work with for your legal concerns.

The one hour consultation turned into two because he never stopped talking. I couldn't get a word in. Then he charged me for his time and refused to release my documents until I paid him. Run away!

IN my opinion you should always have a referral from someone who has used that lawyer, don't rely on anything else...This guy turned out to be a nightmare and poor to deal with all parties with his aggrssive nature.
