I was very happy with Sonya. She educated and guided me through a very hard time in my life. I felt protected and well-represented and I recommend her all the time.

I was a single teen mother when Sonya became my lawyer. She treated me with respect and listened to my concerns. She treated me like a very important client and fought hard for me. She was able to explain the process to me and was able to manage my expectations. She was tough against the other side but still professional. She was kind to me when necessary. She helped me get the best possible outcome I could expect. I continue to refer people to Sonya. I would use her in the future if needed.

I feel my case was compromised by her personal life and family issues. I took a backseat and it harmed me in the long run. I understand that we all have a personal life and family obligations but when you have clients counting on you in a field where timing is everything-arrangements need to be made to cover your clients interests. I was unhappy with the half assed care my case was given. When you are on legal aid - you get what you pay for. Literally!

1. This woman had to write the bar several times before she passed. 2. As a new lawyer she took the advice of opposing counsel, Chris Lunn and now a dozen or so years later she gets to help decide who gets Legal Aid, since Chris Lunn heads Legal Aid in Barrie. 3. Sonya isn't a very good lawyer so she can't rely on referrals like most. Therefore, in addition to her Legal Aid work she works for the Office of the Children's Lawyer (OCL). 4. She has a reputation for allowing a clinical assist, Lois Chouinard, to completely take over and LIE to satisfy her own agenda. Sonya will even change her previous position when Lois enters the picture. 5. Sonya has been known to use up the 2 hour Legal Aid certificates that abused woman are given. She will cry when she hears stories of abuse and prays to God that it isn't true, but alas, she won't be able to help and the poor abused woman has lost her 2 hours of free legal advice.
