Whenever they speak rationally to him, he immediately corrects and changes his accusations to make them milder. Back-paddling is indeed the truest hallmark of a coward, for it take little courage to swallow enough pride to say "I'm sorry". You'll definitely never hear those words after he makes a mistake. His tongue is quicker than an Olympic rower's paddle, backstroking swiftly on by.
